Hi Everyone- I need your opinion with an issue about naming our child. I am 20 weeks along and having a baby boy. My husband and I are in love with the name Christian. We really would love to have our child named it and it is the only name that we both love. There are no others ones that we could or want to use. We might have a problem and I am not sure if it will be an issue. My brother's wife (sister-in-law) lost her brother a few years back and his name was Christopher. I know it is not the same name but the nickname would be the same. Do you think it is okay to use this name? Thank you for any input. I am not sure what to do. And don't want to hurt any feelings but I also want to be able to name our baby a name we love.
Re: Need Input on Our Baby's Name
Have you talked to your SIL about it?
If it were me, I think I would tell her that was a name we were thinking of and see her reaction. I think Christian and Christopher are different enough that it shouldn't be a problem. She could always use his full name instead of a nickname if she preferred.
This. I would think that she'd be understanding of your love for the name and honestly, they are different enough that I couldn't see anything wrong with it. It's nice that you are thinking about her feelings with this.
