Baby Registries- Please help

Hi if anyone wants to share their registry favorites or some links to their favorite must haves ie: stroller, car seat, blender, crib.  I would really appreciate it.  I wish there was a sample registry where I could just keep suggested items, add things or delete.  Starting from scratch is driving me crazy.

Re: Baby Registries- Please help

  • Creating a registry was really difficult for me because there is just so much unnecessary baby stuff.  I was worried I would end up with a bunch of stuff I didn't need, especially living in Manhattan.  I did numerous searches like "necessary baby items", "baby items for those living in small spaces", "necessary baby items for New Yorkers", etc.  That was really helpful.  I also asked all of the moms I knew what they considered must haves.  Finally I consulted the Baby Bargains book and a book called Eat Sleep Poop.  Both were really helpful.

After all of the above research I can tell you a few things I ended up with.  Keep in mind that we live in a 1100 sq ft. one BR apt in NYC.

Uppababy Vista (full size stroller) and G-Luxe Strollers (umbrella stroller for trips on the subway, etc.), Ikea Sundvik Crib & Vyssa Spelevink crib mattress (baby is staying in our room and this is a full size but lower profile crib), Graco  Pack n' Play w/ Bassinet (for trips), Danzo Hobo Diaper Bag, Aden+Anais swaddle blankets, gowns, towels, crib sheets and wash cloths (my neighbors swear by Aden + Anais),  Chicco Keyfit 30 infant car seat, Britax Marathon 70 G3 Convertible car seat, Fisher Price Bathtub w/ infant sling, Madela Pump in Style Breast Pump, and Ergo Baby Carrier.  Of course there are also bottles, bibs, grooming kit, thermometer (I hear rectal is preferred by doctors for infants), aspirator, etc. but hopefully this is a start.

  • I'm preparing to register and have been polling friends about their best buys. We also bought an online subscription to Consumer Reports, so that we could research the safest, most durable, and most user-friendly products. So far, all my close friends have recommended the City Mini GT stroller as the best for city living. That seems to be the only product that I will definitely be registering for at the moment.

I have created a private board on Pinterest (it's set up so that only I can see it) and am including notes below all the items I'm considering. My next step will be to narrow everything down and then register. It's how I'm keeping track of everything. Thought I'd mention it in case it's an approach that might work for you too.

  • Thanks for responding.  It's helpful to hear from nyc ladies who understand subway and travel and...city life.  I also posted on my June bd.  Here are the responses for anyone lurking or following this post for advice too :-)

  • A good site to register is Myregistry.com that way you can combine items from Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, Target, etc.
  • I used some friends' advice and also this website, I think it's great!!:
