Had my Baseline - get to start stims but...

I had my baseline today.  I'm less than thrilled with my numbers.  I've already cried, but I really need to get my head right or else this will be another failed cycle.  My numbers were not the best and have definitely gotten worse since December... WTH.  My last cycle I had an FSH of 6, Estrodial of 17, AFC of 17.   This baseline an FSH of 7.2, Estrodial of 47, and an AFC of 10.  WHY in one month have all my numbers gone bad?!?!  I'm so upset.  I was cancelled last cycle b/c of a poor response / oversuppression.  I don't even know if we should go ahead with this cycle with so little follicles to recruit when I had such a poor response last time.  I'm so lost with all of this... should I just give up.  Sorry I had to have my pity party!

All Welcome

Re: Had my Baseline - get to start stims but...

  • I hope things start to look better for you. But I dont understand why with a AFc of 10 you would worry about giving up. Does your RE cancel if there is below a certain number of follicles? I have seen the AFC be very wrong in some women, my RE doesnt use it. And just remember it only takes one. Good luck.

  • Are you using a different protocol than last time? I just did a cycle with an AFC of 7 and we retrieved 7 eggs. I wouldn't give up, it only takes one. If over suppression was the problem I would assume a different protocol or at least different doses of meds would help. Good luck to you!

  • Thanks Ladies.... My RE wants at least the probability of at least 5 viable eggs.  I had a good amount of follies last go round, but only four viable sized at the time of trigger so he cancelled me.  He says the chance of success with less than 8 good eggs retrieved is so low.  He will go to retrieval with 5, but he just warns that success rate is much lower with lower amount of follicles.  We are changing the protocol a bit.  I was on long lupron last time.  This time he took out the lupron and added in ganirelix.  I'm on the same dosages ... 150 of follistim and 2 vials of menopur.  He may increase if needed later in the cycle.  Lets pray on Thursday I have a good report!

  • I know our medical history might be a little different but jsut thought I would throw my story out there and do with it as you will. Throughtout my stims we only saw 4 follies. At ER we got 6. we transfered one and I got BFP with one of those, ended in m/c. I still have 3 frosties Im working with now. Obviously this is just my situation but dont loose hope.

  • Your AFC can vary month to month, sometimes up, sometimes down. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Good luck!

  • Sorry you're having such a rough day!  Numbers can change (obviously) and even though one part of the cycle isn't going so well, it doesn't mean the whole thing is a bust.

    My counselor (who has gone through IVF) told me not to worry about follies.  She had 2, retrieved 2, 2 fertilized, 2 implanted, and she has twin girls.

    Ya never know!  Lots of positive mojo being sent your way.

    Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!);
