It seems like the answers to that question are as many as there are parents on earth.
My formerly STTN twins' sleep has gone haywire (maybe because we spent Christmas several timezones away?) and now my "good sleeper" (used to sleep 11-12 hours straight) has been more or less awake since 1 AM (it's 4.30 AM). I even caved and gave her a bottle, and she still woke up less than an hour later.
So do you ignore their cries? Or go in with minimal touching and no eye contact? Or full on holding and rocking? Or take them to your bed? Or feed them? Just curious. I have no idea what to try next, I feel like I've tried everything.
Sidenote: I wonder why it doesn't help when I take them into my bed, when they were younger they fell asleep immediately there. Now they either keep crying or wake up more and just want to play.
Re: What do you do when they wake up at night?
I'm guessing you're right about the time zone thing. Pilar hasn't started STTN consistantly yet and she still sleeps in our room so one of us gets up at night with her.
When she wakes up she's almost always wet and/or hungry. We normally change her and feed her. By then she goes back to sleep.
I assume your twins are in the same room? Mine are, and that's my biggest concern for one to wake the other.
So I usually let them cry if its just a whine or whimper, but if its a hardcore cry, I go in there and give the paci, or rub her back. And don't pick up unless she won't stop. Then I move her to our play room where we leave a pnp set up and I let her CIO in there so she won't wake up her sister. Usually only takes a few min now that they know our routine.
