A long time back I posted aboout LO possibly needing tubes. Well, his ears are still bad so he is getting tubes this week. He has been throwing up and having bad, bad diaper explosions the last part of last week and through the weekend. I called the ENT's office where the receptionist told me he would be fine.
I wasnt satisfied with that (and quite honestly have had it with the short, 2 word answers to all my questions from that office and doctor) So Im trying to get a hold of his pedi.
I know it's such a short time he's going to be under but he has been throwing up so much. I was way nervous about this before, now Im dying.
Rant over- insight/experience welcomed.
Re: Tubes this week and he's been really sick /rant
I dont have much experience cause I was so young, but I was a kid with major ear problems and I was sick a lot. I remember when I was a bit older, maybe 5 or 6 I would be sick just being tired and feverish etc. It was really hard on my mom getting to the bottom of it and getting tubes in. But once those tubes go in he will be one happy kid so quickly!
How the receptionist handled your call is BS and I would make sure the ENT knows it! Calling the pedi is a good idea. I hope they give you better info.
Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
Call the ENT back and ask for a nurse. They should have a phone nurse. Or do you have a number for the day surgery where he is getting the tubes? They could possibly answer this better then your pedi. I know at our day surgery its actually the anesthesiologist that will say if it's okay or not.
I've been through tubes with both my big boys plus they have both had more surgeries for removal of tonsils and adenoids. DS3 is getting his tubes on friday. Thank the Lord! I know its scary but its seriously is the fastest thing ever. DS1 was out of my arms for 15 minutes b/c he was at the hospital for his b/c of his heart condition. Ds2 had his 1st set a pediatric day surgery center and I got to take him back to the OR. He was out of my arms for 10 minutes tops. By the time I got to his post-op room they were wheeling him down the hallway. The tubes have been a life saver for us too. They really made a huge difference in both my big boys
Thanks for the reassurance! I had to schedule with the Pre-Op RN, and she told me that could definitely be a problem. I called back and got someone else to leave a message at least. That office just sucks.
Im actually really excited for the tubes- Im just dreading getting there. Glad to hear they are worth it.
