Hello ladies! I'm fairly new to the bump and have been dropping into various boards I "belong" to. I have four beautiful kids and a tiny one on the way, a surprise but a very much welcomed one. My youngest, so far, is 7 months and I'm hoping I can bother you a bit with a question. He's EBF and I just started introducing him to solids a couple of days ago, and it seems he hasn't taken to them very well/easily. He had his first poopy diaper today after about 4 days and it was a struggle for him to go, to say the least. The poor little guy was in tears and screaming trying to push, he was finally able to go after about 15 minutes but it was heartbreaking to see him struggle so much.
Any advice on what may help him go easier? If it matters, it was a fruit mix he had (apricot, banana, pear and apple). I've honestly never had this issue before with my other kids, and this is my first time trying out pre-packaged baby food so I'm not certain if it's normal for this to happen. I did BLW with my other kids without any issues, and I might just go back to that if it continues to be this difficult for my little guy.
Thank you so much in advance for any and all suggestions!
Re: Hi!
Welcome! We are actually about the same on both our 7 month olds and our pregnancy. I was told by my pedi to give a little bit of water in a sippy cup with solids. I never did this with DS1 so not sure if its actually helping but my LO has not been that constipated yet.
How much food do you let him eat when you feed him? Giving them too much at the beginning before their stomach is used to the food is also going to cause problems. I would suggest calling your pedi and asking what you could do for the constipation now.
