boy birthday theme

What theme are you going with for your boy's first birthday party? I am thinking maybe a dinosaur theme (when I was pg with him, DD1 & 2 called him "Rex the Dinosaur" for some reason), but am wondering if I should do something else.

Re: boy birthday theme

  • I think it is good to do what you love.  A dinosaur theme would be good.

I considered my son to be like a teddy bear.  So we did a teddy bear theme for his 1st birthday.  And I got some cute ideas on etsy.com.  For my son's 2nd birthday, Gymboree had a Surf Monkey collection, so I did a surf monkey theme for his 2nd birthday--it was a really cute cake with a monkey on a surfboard.  And I know that it would be fun to do either a sports theme or a superhero theme for his future birthdays.  At 2 years old, he loves his Batman PJs from Walmart, so I have a feeling that we are leaning towards a superhero birthday at the end of May.

  • I like the dinosaur idea, it has special meaning to you!

We are doing sock monkeys.  My little guy came home from the hospital in a sock monkey sleeper and hat!

DS loves balloons, so we are doing a balloon theme. Obviously, that could be for either a boy or a girl...but there will be a few kids at his party and everyone loves balloons!

I think a dinosaur theme would be really cute!

What if you made an UP theme, since the movie had a TON of balloons.

  • A dinosaur theme sounds like fun.

We are doing a Thomas the Train theme.

  • We are doing a cookies and milk open house. I figure it is easy to put out a bunch of cookies and everyone can come visit when they can. Of course there will also be a smash cake!

  • Although my sons are now 12 and 9 I did Teddy Bears for DS#1 and Puppies for DS#2.  I think that dinosaurs will be cute for a 1st bday. We did that theme for a 2nd bday.

  • I wanted to go with a monkey theme, since we always called DS my little monkey while I was pg. But we're kinda getting over the monkey thing. I considered a dinosaur theme, but now we're going with a nice monster theme. I found a lot of adorable ideas on pinterest.

  • At first we were going to do a woodland owl theme, but I just went to a woodland owl themed baby shower and it was incredible. It far exceeded my creative abilities so I'm going to save that for like 2 or 3. This year we are doing a Cookies and Milk Mustache theme. I've found some cute stuff on pinterest and I'm just going to put mustaches pretty much everywhere.
  • We are doing an Elmo theme...little guy is obsessed and he has actually only seen sesame street a handful of times. So it will be more like Red everything!
