Ear infection maybe??

DS has been sick since Friday evening. He had a 103 fever, which came down to around 101 with tylenol.. stayed around 101 all night.. he didn't sleep well, was up ~5 or 6 times.. but, he at least slept in between getting up.. Yesterday, DS was really fussy ALL day.. didn't nap much at all.. we took him to see the Ped, she said his ears looked good, and that it was most likely just viral. Even with him not sleeping well Friday night, he maybe napped for a total of 1 1/2 hours all day on Saturday.. Saturday night he did not sleep practically at ALL. He was just wailing all night. DH and I would switch back and forth holding him.. he'd fall asleep in our arms, but the second you laid him down he was screaming.. and not a tired whiny scream.. this is an I'm in pain scream Even if we tried to let him sleep in our arms, it would last 15-30 minutes, and he'd be back up screaming for over an hour before you'd get another 15-30 minute stretch of sleep..

I called the Ped again this morning and we're going to bring him back in tomorrow. His fever is mostly down by itself. His last bit of tylenol was 4am, and even now it's still only like 99ish. But, he's definitely in pain from something.. he just keeps freaking out.. and, he's still not slept at all.. his poor eyes have deep purple bags underneath from being so exhausted

Ped said on the phone it sounds like an ear infection.. but that maybe when she checked him yesterday it was too early for her to see it..

We're trying motrin instead of tylenol (he's just over 6 months, so I was trying to avoid introducing motrin yet, as it's harsher on their livers).. Ped said Motrin is better as a pain reliever than tylenol, so hopefully he'll get some relief and be able to sleep a little..

Is it possible he could be having a tooth come in?

FX it isn't an ear infection or if it is that it heals up quickly!

He's had 2 teeth come in before this and didn't act anywhere close to the way he is now, so ped said she doubts it's from teething.. he's definitely sick with something as he's snotty and congested, too..

It's just.. SO not like him to not sleep.. he is just exhausted!

Just got motrin in him about an hour or so ago, put him down to sleep.. slept 20 minutes and is screaming again...

Awe, I hope your LO feels better soon. DS had a number of ear infections when he was small, and if that's what you've got, antibiotics will work their magic quickly. I'm sorry though...poor sick baby :[ It's rough on everyone when baby is sick.

I'm mostly a lurker but wanted to respond to this. We've been dealing with the same thing since Tuesday, his ears were fine then but fever would not go away. We took him back in on Friday and he has double ear infections and is on an antibiotic for 10 days.

I hope he starts feeling better soon!!
