Favorite Weekend Vacation?

So, I'm thinking that I'm ready to cut the cord a bit and have a weekend away, without LO.
My 30th birthday is in March and I'm trying to figure out where we should go for our little weekend.
Where is your favorite place to visit in NC?

    Our go to for a quick weekend getaway is the beach. Not sure what part of NC you are located, but if you are close to Greensboro, the Proximity has several neat romantic packages available.

    We are going to the Umstead for our baby moon. We got a gift certificate for there. It is a bit expensive, but super nice!

    Good suggestions! We're in Raleigh, so anywhere within 2 3 hours is doable .

    We love the Umstead! We've only stayed there once, but used the spa services several times.

    I love Black Mountain and Asheville, New Bern or Wilmington for weekend trips.

    We love the Blue Ridge Parkway between Blowing Rock and Linville.  Blowing Rock and Boone have great places to stay, eat and shop so the whole area makes for a good weekend trip.
