Do the questions ever stop?? Vent

DH and I were married for over five years before we had DS, so by the time we announced my pregnancy, it seemed like someone was asking "when are you going to have a baby??" almost every day. Then I got about a 17 month reprieve from the time we announced our pregnancy until now (broken up by nine million variations of "are you STILL pregnant??" that started at about eight months pregnant). But in the past week, I think I've been asked some version of "so are you ready for baby number two?" at least five times. Is anyone else experiencing this? I always reply with, "No. Definitely not." so that hopefully they won't ask again for a while, but since it's mostly people I really don't want to/can't be rude to, I can't be more forceful than that. What do you say if people ask?

    love our lil boy ..but we're stopping at one for a whole bunch of reasons :)

    MIL won't be getting the grandaughter she wants.... unless mother Nature decides otherwise.

    If I have time, I explain how much I'm loving ever single minute of being with my son and how amazing he is, unlike anything I ever could have expected, and I can't begin to think about having another child while I want to spend every free second eating up my amazing little boy.

    If I don't have time or don't care about the person, I tell them the other truth. I can barely afford this kid. There's no way on earth I could afford a second one.

    There will always be a question to ask people, because society is never happy with the now. It's a shame, but we will always have to come up with excuses regarding why we want to live the live we so choose to live.

    I usually say that I only have a finite amount of love to give and it's currently used up on my husband and my son. If I added a child, I would have to love everyone else less. If they persist, I go into my nightmare pregnancy and more vomit than anyone ever wants to hear about.

    My in laws have been doing this! My SIL just asked me yesterday if I wanted her to bring some of her baby gear next time she comes to leave for number 2 and its like... no? I don't want that stuff sitting in my house taking up space for the next few years.. cause that's how long it will be if I have any say in it.

    I get this ALL the freaking time. Especially from people that don't have kids for some reason. I guess those that do know better?

    LOL! I love this!

    I had to have a c-section. Maybe I'll just lie and say that my doctor said I had to wait three years after the c-section.

    I should just tell then that at my advanced age the vagina doesn't have much elasticity and it  is very hard to get pregnant when having sex is like slapping a spaghetti noodle in  outer space.... lets see someone have an answer  to that one  haha

    ..and no I am not THAT old ...nor is my Vijayjay stretched  beyond recognition... LOL

    Nope, the questions don't stop. I have two kids and people ask all the time about #3. I think it's just a knee-jerk question, like a filler they use when they can't think of anything else to say.

    Yeah, we started getting asked that when our guy was only three months old. At that point, I would give the person a look like did you seriously just ask me that question????

    Now, I'm slowly getting baby fever again, so I'm not as annoyed as I used to be with that.

    I usually respond now with that we'll have another baby someday, but we are just enjoying our life as it is right now..

    I just look at them and ask if they are on crack. it is always people that know me well too so it makes no sense. they know what I went through for these 2 and what I go through now.  so they must be on drugs, that's the only explanation!

    Yup. We get those questions all the time, especially from my MIL. The last time she asked I said I'd rather slit my wrists than get pregnant right now. That shut her up pretty quick. In my defense, I was having a very bad day.

    I mentioned at a family gathering that we MAY be done after getting a million "when's number 2 coming" questions. Apparently my MIL cried all the way home according to my SIL - which kind of makes me want to not have another one on principal.

    I get asked all the time "So are you guys going to have any more babies?" I usually just answer honestly- "probably done having our own bio kids, but we plan to adopt in a few years".

    "Nope.  We are one and done."  If they persist, like PP, I go into the miscarriages, rough end of pregnancy and 30 hour traumatic L&D.

    Then, after they keep pushing on how DD must have a sibling, I explain that I am an only child and think I turned out okay ;)

    I just say, "No way. I'm done with one."  Even if this isn't 100% true (still debating), it does tend to shut them up.

    No, they don't stop. The questions don't bother me much.  But pick an answer and go with it and be nice to the asker. They're probably just making conversation.
