3rd Trimester

how many more sizes can I expect?

Pre-pregnancy I was a 34B. The week of my BFP, I went to a 36C. I am now a 38C (should have actually gotten a new bra/measured WEEKS ago). Not sure if genetics play a role, but my Mom ended up having a breast reduction because she just got so big. How many more bra sizes can I expect to go up in the next 12 weeks and after baby is here? They are already covered in stretch marks :(  (also, does bio oil work at all for stretch marks???)

Re: how many more sizes can I expect?

  • I think it's different for everyone, really.

I had DD1 6 weeks early, so I don't really know what the end is like.  However, my PP size (after my milk came in and settled down) was my 30+w size more or less.

This time, I'm about a 38DD right now and that's why my old nursing bras are.  My plan is to wear stretchy nursing tanks until things settle down and then hope that I'm the same size as last time.

  • Everyone is different. My experience was like this:

    pre DD, 36B

    End of pregnancy, 38C

    Post baby during engorgement, 42D

6 months post baby, I was producing about 100 oz a day, I stayed around 38C

Post breast feeding 1 year after birth, 34C (38B is the sister size according to Victory Secret)

This pregnancy doesn't appear to be any different. I started out about the same size and am now sitting at 38C. So I expect the same size during engorgement.

  • Totally depends on the pregnancy. My Mom and SIL both said they never went up a size. Well pre-pregnancy I was a 32A, and now I'm a 36D and I'm still growing. My D's are starting to get a little tight in the cup. So I expect to go up another size and then more after my milk comes in. And mine are covered in stretch marks as well. Nothing really helps that.

  • My rib cage just expanded and stayed that way Sad. I was a 34B pre-preg with DD and went up to 38B, which is really difficult to find. In the meantime I've read that there are equivalents in bigger cup sizes, but I feel like C cups are just too big for my boobs (well, maybe not so much now that I'm pregnant again, but usually) and end up giving me really ugly, gappy bra lines.

BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

  • Started the pregnancy at a 36C, I am now over a 40D but that's as large as Target here carries! I am guessing when my milk comes in I will need to order a couple bra's online. With my first I went up another letter size after I had my child. They did recede a bit after I stopped pumping and let my milk dry up. I never did get back to my 32-34C. Nothing as far as I can tell works for stretch marks. My stomach will never be shown in public again.

Use a bra extender on a smaller cup size. I have always had a wide shoulder/rib cage ratio since I was a teenager. These work well.

no...there is a chance you'll return to them after BF... I did... however this time around I hope mine stay nice and fluffy lol... I don't want the dreaded pancake boobies

fwiw, you might ask about the mederma stretch mark cream.... I dunno about applying it to your breasts during the preg. or BF stage,  but I certainly used it on my hips and inner thighs and I think it helped significantly even after just one month of applications

  • I was a 34C pre-pregnancy. I wore stretchy nursing tanks for the first 4 months, so I'm not sure what size I was then. However, I ended back up at 34C within 6 months when my milk was regulated and LO started eating solids.

  • I was a 32DD prepregnancy and am now up to 34G and it appears as if they're still growing!

I do know that after my first pregnancy I did get back down to close to my prepregnancy bra size........just one cup size larger.  It took awhile, though.

  • Again, it will be different for all.  But for me, I started out as a modest 34B and ballooned up to a 36D when my milk came in.  After BFing was done, I went down to a 34C and stayed there (I guess my rib cage slowly shrank back down as well).  Now that I'm KU again, I'm back into my D-sized bra, and it's even feeling a little tight in the band.  Kind of wondering what this means for when my milk comes in cup size-wise, but it's just one of those go with the flow situations (no pun intended).  When you need a new bra, just spring for the new one.  It gets pricey but your comfort is worth it.

I could've written this, it's my experience too.

  • I went up five cup sizes and few band sizes with DS.  I quit breastfeeding while pregnant, so I don't have any experience with how they deflate - they are still their giant bfing size for the most part.  They went down a little bit.  I'm hoping they won't increase again with this baby.  Finding a bra in a cup size I or J is really annoying as it is!

  • It really varies. I never changed with DD.

After DD was born I went and got measured for a nursing bra. Either I was engorged or the chick had no idea what she was doing but that particular bra ended up way too big. I ended up buying bras in the same size I was pre DD.

So far, not changes this time, either.

  • For me, I am a 36C normally, a 38D during pregnancy, and go all the way up to a 38DD when my milk comes in.  At least, that is what happened last time and is why I got away with no stretch marks on my belly but a bunch on my boobs.  Luckily, they have faded and are now hardly noticeable and I am hoping the ladies can handle the engorgement better this time around, LOL.

ETA:  After I stopped nursing and my milk dried up I went back to a 36C, my normal size.  I wouldn't get rid of your bras just yet.

  • I went from a 34B before I got pg with DD1 up to a 36F when my milk came in. I think I was probably a 36D when I delivered. Once my supply regulated, I went back down to a 34-36D pretty quickly.

  • Depends on you totally...

    So far..

    Pre Pregnancy - 34C.

    Mid Pregnancy - 36DD

    Now I'm a 40D.... not engorged/BF yet  - so I have no idea where I'll end up...
