Here's our current name list... (our ln is two syllables and begins like "rough" but with a D and DD#1 is Maya Marie, just liked the fn and mn is a family tradition on DH's side)
Our top boy and girl names:
Samuel (Sam) Joseph (fn after my grandfather and mn is both DH's mn AND his dad's fn)
Lillian (Lily) Elisabeth (no real reason behind fn, I just really like it. Elizabeth is my mn but I don't like that spelling) + Would it be bad to use just Lily as a fn?
Other contenders:
Boy -
Maxwell Tyler (mn is DH's fn) or Maxwell Joseph or Maxwell Samuel Joseph (surprisingly the double mn doesn't bother me and normally I'm not a fan of them, maybe it's just because of the family significance)
Carter Samuel or Carter Joseph
Girl -
Emily Catherine or more likely, Emily Elisabeth (normally alliteration is NMS but it was inevitable with M's name and I grew to really like it! Lily Elisabeth also has that same alliterative flow)
Anna Elisabeth
Re: Thoughts on our names
I really like them all with Samuel Joseph (Sam) being my fave boy name and Emily Catherine being my fave girl name.
Yay! Glad they are going over so well
I know there's some serious popularity issues with several of them, well like all of them, but they're all so classic that it doesn't bother me. Other tops girl names from our list for M were Charlotte, Lorelei, Olivia, Sophie/Sophie, Madeline (but pronounced Madelyn), Abigail... but none of them, except maybe Abigail (Abbie), are clicking with me this time.
I forgot about Emily Elizabeth from that series, I don't think it would be a big deal though but absolutely something I'll keep in mind. Thanks for pointing it out!
I'm normally a fan of longer names too, I think we'll stick with Lillian as a fn just so she also has that option as she ages.
This for me too.
Why don't you like Elizabeth spelled in the traditional way? Seeing it spelled "Elisabeth" hurts my brain. If I saw "Elisabeth" on a piece of paper, I'd pronounce it ENTIRELY different than I'd pronounce "Elizabeth." It's a different name!
