biting

Does anyone else's baby bite them on the shoulder or neck?  Sometimes when I'm holding LO close she bites me, ouch!  She doesn't do this with anyone else and it's not when she is hungry.  I believe she is trying to bite my shirt, but it doesn't make the bite hurt any less.  Anyone else have a biter or am I the only one with a vampire baby?

Re: biting

  • I have a biter too. She's bit me a couple of times while nursing. She hasn't actually bitten me otherwise. I can tell when she is going to try and head her off before it actually happens. I think for us it is teething related.

  • DD has bit me once while nursing, probably just an accident, and once because she was angry. She hates to have her hands cleaned and I was cleaning her up after dinner one day. She was fighting me trying to free her hand and when she couldn't she leaned over and bit my arm, hard! I was shocked and surprised all at the same time. I very sternly told her NO. She hasn't bit me since but it was a little scary that she got so angry!!

  • Lucas bites three different ways, 1st when he's playing and trying to "get" you but he doesn't know not to use his teeth. That we just say gentle. 2nd when you stick your finger in his mouth to see what he's grabbed and put in there he shouldn't or to check teeth that i figure its my fault for putting my finger in there and 3rd the worst when he's teething he bites some times while nursing. That I say no sternly unlatch him and set him on the floor. When he's calmed down we try nursing again.

  • YES!

DS bit me while nursing when he was first getting teeth. That only happened for a weekend and rarely happens now.

The past 2 weeks, he has been biting me on the shoulder.  I asked DC if he was doing it there too and they said no, but that it is sometimes caused by teething.  Sure enough, when I picked him up the day, he had a new tooth poking through (#7).  He stopped for a few days and again this weekend started doing it.  This morning #8 was poking through.

When he does it, I say...'Don't bite mommy, but you can bite this' and I give him a teething ring.  It seems to help.

  • She does have another tooth coming in -  good idea to keep her teething things handy so I can give her something that she can bite when it happens, thanks.
  • I call him my zombaby because he bites so much!  It burns too!  He's been doing it since 3 months adjusted.
