Car Question

So we obviously never planned to have triplets so now we both need new cars. So if anyone has an suggestions that will fit 6 kids plus me and DH that would be awesome! We have 2 2011 Town and Country's but they seat 7 and we need 8. I know an option is to just take 2 cars but if there is a car that will safely sit 8 people we would much rather have that. Thanks!

  • Could you put a bench seat in instead of the buckets? Just guessing that why it seats only 7? Would that work? I'm not really sure with all the car seats or whatever.

  • We have an Acura MDX with optional third row seating, which i love but with the third row up I don't have a lot of cargo room doubt my bob stroller would fit back there.
  • Not sure of your budget or how big you're willing to go, but we had a Chevy Suburban when I was growing up (I'm the oldest of five kids and my mom ran a daycare). Very roomy, plenty of space for the triple stroller... I've seen one in there!

Same here ? I'm one of five and we had a Suburban when I was growing up. We also did a lot of camping and trailer-hauling. Ours had bench seats and my parents had it custom-fitted with an extra seatbelt in the middle so that it sat 3 in the front, 4 across the middle, and 3 in the back. Not sure if that raises any legal issues, but it did come in handy sometimes.

  • I have a Toyota Sienna LE. If you use the latch system, you can put one car seat in the middle on the 3rd row seat, and one car seat in each of the 2nd row captain's chairs. There is a seat that snaps into the 2nd row in between the captain's chairs, but I think you have to have to LE model or better to get that. The 2nd row slides up so it's easy to get to the 3rd row, and I have plenty of space in the back for strollers/groceries/etc. We have had 3 car seats in it before and haven't had any issues getting everyone in and out, but I didn't have the 8th seat installed at the time, but it only takes a second to snap in and out.

We have thought of a chevy suburban. Question: It sit's 2 in the 1st row then 3 in middle and 3 in the 3rd row correct? Thanks!

  • My husband works in the industry he says my minivan, sequoia, suburban, tahoes, Yukon....
  • Personally, I would just get one vehicle that can accommodate everyone unless money is just no object and you can easily afford two different vehicles on top of triplets. I know DH and I couldn't. I would skip right over most SUVs and minivans as we can max then out on a weekend trip with one baby and two dogs. I would look at Suburbans and Excursions or something along those lines. Lots if space and lots of storage. And I would keep one if your current cars for the parent who won't have the kids as much.

ETA: I think you could buy a bench seat for your minivan and use it around town. I don't know how well a triple stroller would fit with all three rows of seat but I suspect it would be tight. Still, maybe get the bench seat and keep the minivan for your DH or whoever doesn't have the kids the most. The car seats would fit but maybe not a ton of extra stuff.

If I remember correctly, there was a third seatbelt in the front row, and fit three in the second and third rows.
