So my DD has been an awesome sleeper from day one. She has been sleeping close to 12 hours a night since she was 3 months old. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that she loves to be swaddled. I have been stretching out the swaddling but now she is getting too big for the miracle blanket. When she is not swaddled she will wake up at like 4:30. So I am a little hesitant to stop the swaddling but know I can't swaddle her for the rest of her life.
Has anyone had this issue or have gone through the getting rid of the swaddle faze?? I have the sleep sack but its her hands that wake her up....she will rub her eyes and that wakes her up.
Re: Swaddling
Oh my goodness with the eye rubbing! My DS does that too. He'll go from almost asleep to wide awake and crying just because he keeps rubbing his eyes and that gets him all worked up. We haven't swaddled since he was 8 weeks old, but the eye rubbing himself awake thing has just started in the last few weeks, so I'm afraid you might have run into that no matter what.
It does seem like he's slowly getting less frantic about it and not always waking himself up with it, so maybe it's a phase? *crosses fingers*
My LO has never slept thorugh the night so I'm very jealous of you getting to sleep till 4:30 am!!
We put one arm out and then switched arms out being swaddled for naps and the night and after a few days went cold turkey. It took her longer to go down but after a few days she got the hang of it.
