Those of you with Facebook. How far along were you when you posted on Facebook about your pregnancy? I am 13 wks this wk and I am still hesitant. All my close friends and family already know though. Thoughts?
I think that it is just like anything else and depends on your comfort level. There is no right or wrong, per se. I will announce it on FB because I have outoftown extended family and a few old friends that I will want to know but that I don't see often. All of our close family and friends know. I plan on announcing it on there later this week after my 12week appointment, provided all still looks good. We did something similar with DS. I have done friends that never announced at all on there. It really depends on your comfort level.

Our close family and friends already know. I just sent out announcement cards to my husbands relatives that live far away (we don't talk to the on the phone every, so cards were the best thing). I am going to give them a. Week to get them and then I will announce of FB (I will just change. Me profile pic to my ultrasound). So I will be 13 weeks when I announce to FB
I didn't announce my pregnancy with DD, but I posted a photo where you could see my bump at 36 weeks and lots of people caught on. I'm not planning on announcing on FB with this pregnancy either. I'll tell anyone who is important in my life outside of FB. I don't care if people I went to high school with know if I'm pg or not, and I doubt they care to see updates about my uterus. I'll announce when the baby is born, people can find out then I realize that lots of people are friends with extended family on FB and it would be more appropriate for them to announce that way, but it's not really relevant for me.
I will also be 13 weeks this week. To be honest, only a few people know already: our parents, grandparents, some aunts/uncles around at Christmas, a few close friends, and my midwife. I also told my students on Friday because they are starting to come to school sick and I was worried about getting sickjust want them to take precautions around me. I will probably announce soon, but I need to tell my boss, church family, and a few more close friends first. No rush...
I'll announce in the 2nd tri (and not until I am sure all my close friend and family have been told personally). I try to limit my FB friends, so I don't have a lot of people I'm not actually friends with there.

I have not announced it yet. I have my second doctors apt on Feb. 8th so hoping we hear the heartbeat I will do it then.At that point I will be almost 14 weeks so I will feel more confident
Last time, we announced on FB when I was around 14-15 weeks, which was right when we found out the sex so we could announce it together. I'm guessing we will do the same this time. (We did an elective u/s to find out the sex early.)
I have some pretty close friends that I have not told yet, so I am obviously going to have to wait until they all know before I put it on facebook. I will probably wait until I am a few weeks into the 2nd trimester at least, but we'll see. So far I haven't had a huge desire to anyway.

At 11w 4d we are starting to tell more friends in person, but I have no plans to post until all of the important people in our lives already know. Most of my work colleagues don't know yet except my boss and his supervisor, so I'm trying to make it to the full 13 week mark before I spill the beans.
I have my first trimester screening on
Wednesday at 12 weeks solid.

My husband and I are going to keep it Facebook free as long as we can. Some of the people we have told get weird when we tell them we are keeping it offline. We will probably announce when baby is born.
Thx everyone. You all were very helpful. I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't want to spread my business all over Facebook. I had to crop a picture bc it was very obvious that I am starting to show. Thank you all and wish you all happy and healthy pregnancies!!
With my daughter, we announced after our anatomy scan at 20 weeks. We will probably do the same this time.
We did this with DS as well.
Facebook is a fun social site but it is not my primary communication tool. I will announce to family and friends by phone/email/snail mail.
The longer I've been a mom the more I pull away from Facebook. I know some moms go crazy posting pics or updates about their kid, but I'm the opposite. I am not ready to build my child's online presence yet. So I really only post about once every 4 months or so. So I may put a pic up once I'm showing but not say anything about being pg and people will just think in fat. And them 4 months later a pic of DS and new baby and they'll know I was just PG. HAHA.
