HAHA I bet it's awesome for morning sickness, too.
In all seriousness you would be hard pressed to find studies that show THC has a negative impact on a fetus. Smoking marijuana, yes. Vaporizong or ingesting? Probably not. I wouldn't do it but I wouldn't side eye someone who did any more than I would someone who has a cup of coffee.
Then again I live in Seattle and we are all just a bunch of pot smoking, coffee drinking hippies anyway.

I've never heard of this, seems kind of dumb because it actually alters your level of consciousness, lol. I have heard of people drinking alcohol in labor though. I honestly dont see how thats any worse than a shot of demerol or mophine
I just want to thank you ladies for actually taking me serious! On ever other board I have posted everyone is saying MUD just because I'm new to the bump. I've heard about the site but just joined since I am only 14 weeks along now (:
And I agree Seattle does sound nice!
Do you think I should vaporize my marijuana to stop the morning sickness instead of a puff? I'm sure my Aunt would let me use her vaporizor, she hardly does!!

Preeeeeeeeetty sure no one is taking you seriously.
I dunno, we have similar convos on other boards about drinking where people are saying lighthearted things about having a glass of wine at the hospital or a beer to let the milk down or whatever. I guess those things are more backed up by anecdotal stories though? FWIW, I don't smoke (or do anything else) with pot because it's illegal and I'm paranoid about getting caught and getting fired from my job and my life being ruined... but... if it was legal I might have a different opinion! To each her own.
I don't know why I was surprised more natural mothers would not mind a little THC (:
go green ladies jk lol he he
Just bc I prefer to labor and deliver med-free does not mean I'm automatically a "green lady." I for sure would not be smoking anything while pg. Or when not actually.
It is a proven fact cannabis has been used since ancient times around
the world for medical , spiritual , recreational and also prenatal use .
It does ease nausea and vomiting. Also increases appetite for some like
myself that are way too picky cus of the baby . Also was definitely
used in labor to help relax the mother and ease pain .
The only reason us Americans find this taboo is because the govt made it illegal ( recently ) just to try to ban the Mexicans from crossing the border ( learn your history ppl lol ) . Now there are Americans that unfortunately ( they feel ) have no right to indulge in some cannabis " legally " .
Cannabis cannot be classified at the same level of drugs ie crack . Even crack babies are " fine " after a week in treatment .
Cigarettes are much more poisonous and that too is some how more common in pregnant woman . Any type of tobacco products are harmful .
I prefer to stay away from all caffeinated drinks , that's my personal preference .
There are no factual evidence that cannabis does any harm to the baby . I would recommend using a vaporizer as that might be the most natural way to consume it . I need to invest in one asap lol .
Obviously just trying to brush the topic " light heatedly " . It's just not right that cannabis in legal terms is classified as a drug like crack , heroin , meth when the side - effect are not even close .
HAHA I bet it's awesome for morning sickness, too.

And why is that unfortunate? I have personally tried it and I didn't like it. So why is it unfortunate for me that I don't have the "right" to indulge? Speak for yourself.

This entire post is incredibly more disturbing than the OP.
With both of my pregnancies I've had Hyperemesis (severe morning sickness). This one was to the point where I lost 20lbs in the first two weeks of pregnancy and was on IV fluids through a PICC line and had to have Home Heath Care come over weekly. I know that there are quite a few women with Hyperemesis who do choose to use marijuana to cope with the sickness and several of them have been told by their doctors that it's unofficially ok. With all of that being said I still chose not to smoke pot during my pregnancy but with someone at that level of sickness I can't judge them for doing what they need to slow the weight loss and survive. For anything less than HG I definitely don't see it as an option for occasional morning sickness.

The only person I know who openly smoked while pregnant gave birth at 19 weeks. Natural substance or not, I don't think it's recommended. IMO if smoking alters you that kinda defeats the purpose of having a drug free labor and delivery.
Can I just point out that smoking pot during labor means you are using a drug to get through your labor, ergo you are no longer having a med-free delivery. Just sayin'.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
someone who is against marijuana and views it as a drug can't comment without being judgmental. It's a fact it is a flower that has been used since ancient times wether you choose to believe that or not. It is perfectly non taboo in some cultures. How bout the mothers that choose to have a cup of coffee everyday ? I think that's absurd but I still will not judge.
And when I said it is unfortunate that some mothers can't indulge in the benefits , for example as nyki08 was pointing out , some mothers have worse cases . I do agree for mild morning sickness most women can just tolerate it . I would rather medicate with natural herbs then use a whole bunch of fake man made chemically poisonous drugs aka pills. But every body is different.
I know adult woman whose children are my age and older and they had successful healthy full term pregnancies and did medicate with marijuana during pregnancy. It really upsets me all the misinformed people there are and its really not their fault they're ignorant to real information. Many doctors have studied this literally since ancient times.
I don't think marijuana should be illegal, and I don't think it's as harmful as crack or heroin, but just because its "natural" doesn't mean it's good for you during pregnancy.
It's ridiculous to me that anyone would say a baby born addicted to crack is ok after a week. That's a totally ignorant statement.
Smoke if you want but don't be shocked if there is something wrong with your baby. You took the risk.

Yes and that's the MAIN thing these women refuse to see and understand. I'm only using marijuana as a medication. I'm not smoking every 420 or wakin' and bakin' or anything like that!
I love my weed but I gave it up as soon as I found out I was pregnant, until I could no longer stand the m/s. I had lost 5 pounds also, in just one month, but the weed has helped me to start gaining it back.

I too tried to give it up. But I also lost 5lbs because nothing is appetizing at all. I refuse to starve to death or take pills to increase my appetite. I really don't like people who swear they are perfect and are "thanking god they are not in our womb" lol I'm not religious . Just as there are people that may not agree w our views , I disagree w others views too . But I'm not going to sit here like an angel and put them down and thank someone I'm not a fetus. I will be happy for my healthy baby.
what I strongly don't understand is if the title of the post is a topic that either you know nothing about or have strong views against , why click and comment ? Obviously the poster will just dismiss your comment as judgmental ignorant false information.

I completely understand what you're saying and I do agree w you to an extent. What I've said is based on my knowledge and facts. Like I stated before , I know adult woman whose children are my age and older , and they had successful healthy full term pregnancies and did medicate with marijuana during pregnancy. It has been studied formally since ancient times.
Yes what I said about babies born addicted to drugs is an ignorant statement. That was my way of lightly mentioning to those w no knowledge that by comparison , babies born from mothers who medicated w marijuana have no complications as those born addicted to drugs. BUT that even babies born addicted to drugs have a high success rate of becoming healthy adults. I have several friends who were born addicted to crack , which is why I said nonchalantly that they will be fine.
Obvs I'm not on here to talk about babies born w addiction. I enjoy informing others just as long as they are open to other views w.o being judgmental. This is a community to help others , not thank someone they are not in your womb smh.
This is exactly what I have! And I have resorted to cannabis use throughout my pregnancy. I'm three months away from delivery and I must get clean because where I live they test the baby at birth. I have told my doctors and home health care nurse. All said I have to quit. I already know this. I'm going through withdrawals bad. And I'm just sick of being sick. It really sucks depending on marijuana to have an appetite and to not throw up over 10 times a day of just bile. I've got a picc like in and on zofran in my bag of fluids 24/7 idk what to do to quit but wean me and the baby off
Re: marijuana
Why do you think most of us labor at home? Lolz.
Calling MUD. Hopefully.
Not MUD.
I'm serious. Not just BORED either. I feel like arguing.
I think it's absoulte BS how marijuana is compared to cigarettes and alcohol all the time.
I don't disagree with you on that, but I think it's pretty safe to say that not doing any of the above while pregnant is best.
I don't know why I was surprised more natural mothers would not mind a little THC (:

This woman had her 7 children at home with no assistance except for a couple of whiskey highballs, lol.
