Intro and question

Happy Weekend ladies!!!

I just found this board and thought I would introduce myself and also I have a ? for anyone willing to share their 2 cents.

A little background about me..Sorry if it's a little long. I am married, I will be 39 in April my hubs is 42.  We got married got pregnant the first go at it and had a devestating miscarriage at 8 wks.  Right after that we were told we could try again and I got pregnant right away and in Feb 2012 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She will be 1 soon and I can't believe it!

Due to my advanced age I feel like the clock is ticking furouisly and if I can help it I don't want my daughter to be an only child.  Ever since my daughter was about 3 months old or so I started using my CBEFM to check if I was ovulating (I was EBF) finally got a peak reading in September and got my first PPP in October.  Ever since I have been using my monitor (getting peaks that coincide with my charting) and charting my BBT (I am ovulating) and timing BDing pretty well and have only gotten BFNs since trying for #2.

My question is since in gynological years I am seen as a dinosaur if my pattern of BFN's continue would you skip the gyno and go straight to the RE? And if so how long would you wait to talk to either?

I saw a RE after my miscarriage because of what happened and my age so going back to him wouldn't be a problem.

I guess I am just wondering how long I should wait before being concerned (I already am just due to my age) and who should I talk to my OB or my RE since I am ovulating just not getting pregnant.

I look forward to getting to know all of you ladies and thanks for reading my ramblings.

Re: Intro and question

  • Hello and welcome!  I think the general rule of thumb for seeing a RE is 6 months if you're 35+ and since you have seen one in the past and are almost at the 6 month mark I would give them a call and schedule an appointment.

We decided to wait until my DD was one to start trying again, even though we had trouble the first time around, and now she's almost two and still no luck. Now I wish I hadn't waited as long but hindsight is 20/20.

Good luck and I hope you get your BFP very soon!

  • Welcome! I will be 39 in May. My DH is 41. I agree with Kristi I'd make the appointment. I conceived my DD on our first cycle. We are now at two years trying for number two. I wish I would not have waited to see an RE and get aggressive.
