Toddlers: 24 Months+

toddler seems to be so aware of her surroundings...to the point

where if she cannot find a particular toy its like "where's Dora?  or
"Where's Mickey"? And I have to search and search for it- I try to have all her things in order but when she is playing with them all over the house I loose track of where they are and she cant remember where she is putting them- just making me go bonkers trying to find this stuff!  My husband just found the elusive cinderella figurine under her booster seat- she was missing for months! HA

any others going through this?  How do you keep track of everything?

  • I think this is normal.  When DS wants to know where something is, I tell him to go look for it, or I help him look for it, or I tell him I don't know and why don't we play with this othe rthing instead.

  • Sometimes I help her look, by suggetsing places, or reminding her where I saw her with it last, but generally if I/we can't find it then that's just life.

I remind her to keep track of her things or they'll be lost, and then we move on. I don't dwell on lost items.

  • This is why I search for lost items forever until I find them. DH thinks it's OCD (which it may be), but mostly it's because I know I'm going to get asked where these items are. We try to put toys away as we go, but mostly it's me asking DD "where did you play with it last" and searching.
