DS is really sick and keeps choking on his mucus. He won't cough it up. He just keeps throwing up instead. We have a bulb sucker and a Nosefrida which we use both neither are cutting it.
Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated... Thank you!
Have you explicitly showed him & told him to cough? Mine will cough on demand when I tell him to cough. I'll feel the wheeze in his chest & tell him to cough & he does. He even covers his mouth! If not, I'd call the dr. Lots of fluids, I only give juice when he's sick & he loves it. Also non-dairy homemade shakes with soy/almond milk.
My son has asthma and seems to get sick frequently. He is good about coughing now but we used to have to cup our hand and pat his back - starting from the lower back and working our way up (kinda like burping). It helps if you can kinda incline your child downwards too if that makes sense. My dad had a brother with cystic fibrosis and he said that was how they helped him with phlegm on a regular basis. Hope it helps!
