Frozen vs. Fresh???

Does frozen/thawed BM smell or taste different from freshly pumped BM?  

DS2 will take a bottle of fresh BM fairly well (though he still prefers the b00b!), but really struggles with taking a bottle of thawed BM.  

I tasted both (weird!) and they did taste different... not bad or sour... but a bit metallic or something- I can't put my finger on it!  

Is it normal for thawed BM to taste different?  Or do I have a lipase issue?  DS2 DOES drink it, but it takes longer and he fights it a bit....

    Sounds like you have a lipase issue.

    If he still drinks it, is it OK to give to him??

    I'm finding that with a level 2 nipple (rather than level 1), he IS drinking it... just takes a while.  

    Also, can I add in a bit of fresh pumped milk to change the taste?  Obviously I would do this once it is thawed and ready to drink

    Yes it is fine to give him. All lipase does is helps break down the milk in baby' s tummy. Excess just starts the process before it gets to baby' s tummy.  You can mix with fresh or scald it before freezing to alter the taste. Search scalding milk on www.kellymom.com for instructions.

    We have the same issue but sometimes my LO refuses to eat it. I was not using my freezer stash for about 2 weeks and then I thought that I needed to so I mix 1 ounce thawed to 3 ounces fresh for daycare.
