A heartwarming/sad/small world story

This is the story of a little girl who was born at 21 weeks gestation, she was born with severe brain damage resulting in many diagnoses from epilepsy, blindness, cerebral palsy, and most recently Tysis.  Basically her eyes are dying and she has to have them removed.  :(  My community is putting on a benefit and raising money to purchase a van for her family to get her back and forth to her appointments and money for the family to help with travel and medical expenses.

She was on the news tonight with her family.  The small world part is her family used to live in the house I grew up in... my bedroom used to be her dad's, and I worked with her grandmother at my last job.

She's a very happy little girl,  who loves music, and swinging, and talking on the phone.  Here's the link to the news story:

  • This is so horribly sad and just breaks my heart! I agree that it is also amazing that she survived at 21 weeks. She must be quite the little fighter.

Okay, that makes more sense.  21 weeks isn't viable.  SIL gave birth to her daughter at 21 weeks and she died within a couple of hours.

That's still amazing that she's survived.  I hope that they're able to get her the things she needs.  That's neat that you've got such connections to them!
