Question for Brooklyn Mamas about Park Slope Parents

We're expecting in July and are moving from Chelsea to Park Slope next month. Have any of you purchased a membership with Park Slope Parents (www.parkslopeparents.com)? We're curious as to whether or not others have found it worth it. Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Re: Question for Brooklyn Mamas about Park Slope Parents

  • Hi there,

What does membership to PSP entail exactly?  I am living in Park Slope and am also due in July!

    Would be fun to connect.

  • Hi! Park Slope Parents is a service that offers special resources, discounts, and deals in the area for members and provides members with access to parent groups which have community boards but also meet in person. There are also sections that are open to nonmembers--like their daycare listings and parent reviews of them. (That's how I discovered them.) The membership fee is $35 for the year. That seems like a pretty small fee, but I wanted to see if anyone found PSP membership useful first.

In any case, my main interest has been in the parent groups given that we'll be new to the neighborhood.  I would love to meet another Park Slope mom-to-be who is due in July! You can email me at crowdofstars at gmail if you're still interested in connecting.

  • I love psp.  I've used them since 2007, when it was a free blog.  I haven't purchased a membership yet but I would.

  • Thanks, nelley!
  • I like in Prospect Heights and ever new Mom I know joined. I plan to also because I think having in person support in BK is important. But I do warn you, ever mom friend I have has commented that some people are very type A and competitive about what is "right." I'm going to go in with a positive attitude and hope to find people on the same wave length.
