Pregnant after 35

Thanks, Mom.

"Looks like you're going to have a big baby" is what my mom tells me today as she's staring at my my stomach.

I'm 12 1/2 weeks!

Helpful remarks like this are why I wish I could wait to tell her about the pregnancy until after the baby's born.

Re: Thanks, Mom.

  • Ugh, I'm sorry you have to deal with that. It sounds like something my mom would say, which drives my bonkers.

I think the only thing anyone should ever say to any pregnant woman is, "you look amazing". And they should mean it. We're making humans here, what do they expect?

  • For what it is worth, I bloated up a ton after injectables and the trigger.  I felt like I waddled around with a beer gut and I didn't even have a baby in me at all.  Stayed that way for quite a while, too, and I started wearing mat. pants right away.  No way was I going to add binding pants to that game.

I used injectables for my 1st pregnancy and I was exactly the same as you.

This being my 2nd, I'm showing earlier and I haven't had a decent poop in 2 days so I'm a bit bloated. :P

I probably will have a big baby b/c my 1st was, but no one wants to hear how huge they are.

  • Moms can be the best and worst of times for a pregnant woman! I haven't gained ANY weight so far-- in fact, I've lost weight (the amount of which varies from time to time) but my mom just looks at me like I'm "just too fat" and keeps warning me to watch what I eat and make sure I don't eat "anything bad-- it's so hard to stop once you start."

My grandmother, however, made a point of telling my mom that I look like I've "blossomed" with this pregnancy and that I "look even more beautiful."

Grandmothers are awesome. I suggest talking to your grandmother and leaving your mother alone. LOL

  • Not all grandmothers are awesome.  Mine blurted out "you have friends?????" when I said DH planned a co-ed "shower" cookout for my first, and DH's grandmother asked me when the baby was due years ago, when I was just a bit fat.
