Third-Party Reproduction

A most happy intro from a most happy grad. :)

Hi ladies!  I am delighted to see a board all of our own.  I know some of you already, but for those whom I'll get the opportunity to meet, a quick intro.

I've been a long-time poster on IF and then made the transition to IFV, sometime after our second failed cycle.  I have DOR and am a textbook poor responder. We tried IVF with my OE three times, making it to ER/ET just once. That cycle ended in a m/c at 7w. After three attempts, we got the DE talk and our RE strongly recommended that we stop with my OE. And, after a lot of deliberation, we agreed.

Once we decided to use DE, things moved very quickly.  Less than 24 hours after we made that decision, the perfect donor for us entered our clinic's pool.  We cycled with her (a first-time donor), retrieved 10 eggs, transferred one on day 5, and nothing made it to freeze.  Our one embryo was a superstar and I'm nearly 19 weeks now.

Our donor is cycling for us again next March. We are, of course, hoping for something to freeze. If not, we already know how fortunate we are.

Sooooo happy to be here. I'll look forward to lots of good chats as we all navigate our way through this new world.

What are everyone's thoughts on grads posting regularly?  I certainly want to foster a safe place for those cycling and wouldn't want to do anything that could jeopardize that.

Expecting our capstone baby (boy) early March 2018.

I totally agree with this.  I want to be able to support people as much as possible but don't want to do anything that would add to the stress and heartache for those still going through the process.

Indeed. And by "posting regularly," I meant posts to support and encourage.

  • Congrats on your PG Amcheri!  I am all for grads posting here, many of their stories I have been following for years.  For me this board is an excellent crossover, I am long ahead in experiences over many of the TTC after 35 ladies.  But, because I didn't post on IF much-never felt like I could post on IF VETS.  Great to see ladies experiencing what we are and those who have been successful too Big Smile  I have always kept a presence on TTC after 35 because I think that it's important for others to see where they might be headed and that nothing about TTC might be as easy as they imagine it might be.  Seeing those who fail a fresh cycle, but then get PG on next cycle or FET reminds us all that we are not cycling with our own odds, and that our chances are as good as anyone else's.  If anyone is bothered by the grads posts, we could have a regular check in for the grads?  Certainly would miss seeing them here.
