Message from the bank

I just got a message from my bank (The Sperm Bank of California) telling me that their fees are going up starting March 1, 2013. Now a vial of our precious identity-release washed donor sperm will cost $650! Yikes! I'm freaking out. Need to buy lots before March, as we don't know yet how this cycle went and we hope K will be carrying after me for a second child.

I'm just putting it out there in case anyone else is with TSBC or if you are thinking of buying.

Re: Message from the bank

  • Wow. And I thought 515 a vial was expensive. We are not with TSBC. It's so hard to know just how many vials to buy.

Yes! I'm thinking of buying all that is left of our donor. Probably other families are thinking the same so time to have a serious talk with wife and act asap.

  • You should look up the sperm bank in Columbus, Ohio . I guess my vial of sperm is cheap 250 a vial . Here's where I'm buying mines from. Cryointernational.org they are very reasonable. I'm buying four vials. I'm get iui done so it depends what you want and need.
  • Our bank increases prices almost every year on the first of the year. When we bought ours in December 2008 it was pricey, but now the same ID-release, IUI ready vials are $750 each. Ouch!

We did a storage package where we bought 12 and got 3 years of free storage, and we paid the difference for their 5 year package. We (knock wood) should be okay with our left overs for #2 in a few years, but it's amazing that just the sperm and storage can cost so much!
