So last week we went out of town for the night and we bought some of those pouch packs and LO ate two whole packs at dinner, which is huge for her! So it has been a week and it seems LO has gone on a spoon strike. She typically eats 3 meals a day, so for the last week she has taken 3 of those meals off a spoon. The only way I can get her interested in the food is if I stick a straw in her bowl and she slurps it up.
Is this a stage? DH is concerned we are hindering her development by allowing her to eat from a straw instead of encouraging her to take the spoon.
Thoughts? Advice?
SN: LO has always LOVED a straw. We had a hard time getting her to take a bottle, so we BF for the most part but at 4 months we went to a sippy cup with a straw because she loved every straw she saw.
Re: spoon strike?
My LO has gone on a spoon strike too! He love dot eat, would eat a ton 3 times a day, then suddenly, nope, no way can I get a spoon near his mouth! I struggled and stressed but found finger foods was key! I'm just giving him pretty much what were eating now in bit size and as long as he can feed himself, he's happy. I worry that he isn't eating as much, but he's still drinking lots of milk so I know not to worry. I posted about this earlier too and it seems to be very very common!
good luck!
sadly she isnt interested in table food! i thought she may be ready because she loves to feed herself but it just goes on the floor.
we invested in some reusable pouches today, so i'm excited for those to come in and see how they work. thanks for all yalls help.
