Cutting teeth

How long after you see the little holes and feel the teeth does it take for them to come in? My son has two little holes in the middle of his bottom gum. He has been super cranky, no wonder! Lol.

Re: Cutting teeth

  • It's different for every LO I am sure, but DS- usually within 3 days..maybe 4 days, then the tooth pops through. He actually has one coming in now. We are on day 2 of seeing the beginning of the tooth and the little holes.

    Good luck!

  • Once I can see that a tooth is coming in, like actually see a bit of white and/or blood beneath the surface, it's usually 4-5 days until it actually cuts through (for my girls at least).

Once you can "feel" the teeth (i.e. their sharp edge) then they've cut through - and usually the fussiness stops within 24 hours after that in my experience. As for how long for the teeth to be fully grown in, if that's what you mean, it seems to depend so much on the kid and the particular teeth. For us, DD cut her first two bottom teeth when she was 6.5 months old. That was when we could see the white line and feel the teeth. I'd say they weren't fully grown in until recently - so almost a full two months for her!
