Help me with a response!

I still need to respond to my a-hole co-worker's email. I am thinking something along the lines of "My work and my family is none of your concern and I feel that you have crossed a professional boundary by discussing this when it has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I am hoping that we can come to an agreement on the chemical disposal and stay focused on that topic."

What I really want to say is "*** You Douchebag!" but that would be unprofessional. Big Smile Anyone, have any good ideas or a better way to address him professionally yet still telling him to *** off?"

TIA!

  • I'm not sure what his email originally said, but from your earlier mention of him, he soulds like a complete asshat.  I would really think and revise what you email hiim back, because that stuff doesn't every go away, and he seems like he'd be the type to use that against you.

I'll come back with more once I've thought about it, if you haven't already responded to him.

  • I appreciate your concern for my family but it is unnecessary. Perhaps your time would be better spent focusing on actual work related topics such as chemical disposal.

Love it! Missyleaferg, I am still holding out on the email until I can get my head around this and what I want to say. I do want to be careful so he can not use anything against me. I have been having problems with this guy for a couple of years now and it is just getting worse. He plays passive-aggressive with me...he acts like my friend then does something sh*tty while smiling and acting like he is trying to help. If it was a one time thing I wouldn't be so worked up about it but it is a daily thing.

He is one of my friends on FB too. Ugh!!!!

  • Ok, so while I have missed the email post, I would probably forget myself if an azzhat is saying anything about my family.
However, somewhere along the lines of this probably works:
While I appreciate your concern about my family, I would like to keep my private life just that, private. So please let's just focus on our work, project whatever.

    I will second this!
I hope he backs off. I had a coirker who was very two faced like yours. She so had it out for me and would tear me down at any opportunity. She made my choice to become a SAHM very easy.

  • It is amazing what some quiet time in a swimming pool can do to unwind someone and re-center one's mind! Although I have received some very good responses here, all of which I wanted to use, I have decided to not do or say anything right now.

This isn't the first issue I have had with this co-worker so that is why I was so upset and couldn't just let it go. There have been numerous issues, some of which I have documented already, and they seem to be escalating in frequency. There isn't any one that is terribly horrible in itself but collectively it is setting a pattern of harassment.

I decided that I would be better off building up my file then letting my co-worker know that if it doesn't stop I will file a harassment complaint with the University. I think the threat along with the evidence would get him to stop his antics permanently.

Thanks again ladies for all of your support. There are many days I don't know what I would do if I couldn't vent or get ideas on this board!
