Next week we will be looking at possible induction dates and there is a good chance Valentines Day will be an option. My initial thought was, she doesn't want to share her bday with Valentines day, but now I'm not so sure. I was thinking combination gifts- but odds are she will be here within 4 days of the holiday and so will probably get this anyways... And it's not like kids will miss bday parties because do valentines plans?? So maybe it would be special. Anything I'm missing?
Re: Pros/Cons to Valentines Birthday?
DH feels similarly to the above. We always do something for Valentine's Day. Some years it's a vacation; some years it's dinner out. Granted, it's not some important holiday, but it's ours. All that goes out the window if baby's birthday is Feb. 14.
This would be my concern! If it happens, it happens, but I wouldn't specifically pick Valentine's Day.

When I mentioned the possibility of a Valentines Day birthday to DH he said "absolutely NOT" (like he really gets much of a say LOL) Thinking long term he said he thinks its a horrible idea, especial for a man to have to come up with some nice romantic gesture for his partner on HIS birthday.
Since DH and I don't put a lot of emphasis on Valentine's Day (we appreciate each other every day of the year), I think it would be a great birthday. I have a friend from college who was born that day and I will NEVER forget her birthday! Even without the FB reminder

My birthday is the 13th. While I know it's not Valentines Day, it didn't really matter growing up but as I got older it got annoying. I have to fight crowds around my birthday to go out to eat, especially on the years that both fall on a weekday so people wait until the weekend to celebrate. Also I never felt my bday was as special as so many other people where out celebrating. Lastly, my dates or people I was in a relationship with (minus my SO) thought they could combine the two such as lets do one dinner and celebrate both oh and here are some flowers. Way to make a girl feel special.
As I got older and my friends starting dating and settling down it was hard to get anyone together for my bday for dinner as we would plan it and everyone would be doing Valentines stuff so they couldn't get a sitter two nights in a row, financial issue etc.
I will say when I was young my parents made the 13th a very special day so I never hated being so close. Also people never had an issue coming to my parties etc. It was only as I got older. Not trying to sound stuck up, buy my SO now makes the 13th a huge deal and we rarely celebrate Valentines day.
My vote would be to make it after Valentines day if possible.

I am a Valentine's Day baby.
It was awesome in school because there was a party on my birthday with a bunch of candy! Most kids don't have plans for Valentine's Day weekend or whatever so my birthday parties weren't affected by this.
As I got older, I also dated men smart enough to know that one does not give a joint birthday/valentine's day gift/card.
I usually get a box of chocolates as a Valentine's Day gift from my husband, along with whatever he picks out for my birthday.
Downside... restaurants are busy and I usually have to make reservations a few weeks in advance wherever we want to go, or go out for a birthday lunch instead of dinner. Not really a downside as I still get to eat/spend time with my husband, and sometimes we go on a different day just because.
My birthday is Feb. 15th, and I've never had any problems with it. I usually let my husband combine Valentine's and my birthday, or some years we have just gone out on my birthday instead so it wouldn't be as crowded.
My son's bday is july 7th, and my oldest DD's is Sept. 1st (she was born on Labor Day hah)... only issue we've had as far as birthday parties is that a lot of ppl go out of town for 4th of July and Labor Day, but you don't really have to worry about that with Valentine's Day.
I am a Vday baby and I loved it as a kid. It was awesome! As an adult, it doesnt really matter. My parents always said they just went out the weekend b4 or after Vday (cheaper) and really, Vday is OVERRATED any ways!
I dont think its a big deal at all to have a baby on Vday.. although I hope my babe skips this day, for one - i would be one week overdue and 2 - I dont want to share my bday! lol
Good Luck with whatever you choose
I know someone that had a baby on their anniversary too. They hated it and it took until their kids were out of the house to EVER celebrate their anniversary on their actual day. I told them to take a fancy vacation for the 25th wedding anniversary since they had to put it on hold for so long!
My vote would not be for Valentines Day. Pick a day that wouldn't be shared with anything else.
For me:
Pro: He would share a birthday with my grandma
Con: I would be over two weeks late and that would suck.
In general, I don't think a V-day baby is that big of a deal- it's not like having a baby on Christmas or something.
