I found out yesterday that baby girl is breech I was so sad...but I determined to have a natural birth (dr said that the ob's at the hospital will not deliver a breech baby) so I want to get her to flip....
she has turned 4 times since week 25 or so and each time she did I felt her do the full turn, it went slow each time and it hurt but I knew when she did. I had a feeling she was head up and sure enough-she is. she is more orientated to my left and her head is right at my ribs, feet down below toward my pelvis.
I have researched positions to do and the ice pack stuff, heat, light or music down under the belly, looked at info on chiropractic or acupunture etc..
wondering if any of you had a breech baby? did the baby end up turning? what things did you do to aid in turning baby? I absolutely do not want to do an ECV!
TIA!
Re: were you able to get your breech baby to turn?
Hi! I'm usually a lurker but I wanted to share my experience with you. I found out my baby was breech at 35 weeks. I was very upset and disappointed since she was my third and my first two were natural, med-free births.
I went to a chiropractor 6 times for the webster technique and had accupressure twice to encourage the baby to turn. I also did some techniques from spinningbabies.com. She did not turn by 38 weeks so I went in for the ECV. My midwives were very encouraging about this procedure.
It was not bad at all. I spent about 6 hours at the hospital, getting monitored and had an IV of fluids just in case; but the procedure itself took only 15 minutes. It was very strange and uncomfortable but nothing compared to active labor and nothing I couldn't breathe through. I venture to say that it is less painful and risky than a c-section which was my only other option since my midwives don't do breech births.
It worked! The baby was fine, remained head down and I gave birth to her med-free at 39 weeks.
Also, since your baby has flipped numerous times she still may flip on her own or a successful ECV might be more likely. I would try the chiro and acupuncture first. Good luck!
There is a ton of advice on getting that baby to flip. Also try chiropractic care. Your pinky toes are a stimulant, somehow, so have Chris squeeze your pinky toes.
You can also try swimming, spinning around in the water like a seal throws off the equilibrium for the baby. Do you have a copy of Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May?
I had an ECV performed last week at 39w and it was successful, I posted about it in a post below.
Other options are acupuncture with moxibustion, chiro who will perform Webster technique, and all the spinning babies techniques. GL mama!
Yes and no....
Baby was transverse at 32 weeks. I started doing the spinningbabies stuff and seeing a Webster certified chiro. After the 2nd adjustment by the chiro, baby flipped head down and stayed that way until sometime between 40w2d and 40w6d. Found out she was frank breech when I was 7cm, but the OB let me deliver vaginally anyway.
