Adoption

new board

Looks like there's now a "Third Party Reproduction Board." This is a much better place for the ladies who come here asking about embryo adoption and gestational carriers.
Trying to grow our family with both fertility treatments and adoption since March 2009
IUIs#1-4 = BFN, IVF#1 = c/p, IVF#2 = OHSS, FET#1=BFP

Re: new board

  • I didn't notice the new board, but thanks for pointing it out.

However, I respectfuflly disagree with your second sentence in regards to embryo adoption. I personally do think that embryo adoption discussions belong here as a cross over topic between the 2 boards.  There are enough similiarities between some types of embryo adoption (those that require a homestudy) and domestic infant adoption that the discussions on this board apply to both situations.

Embryo adoption is not commonplace (yet), but I think as awareness grows that this family building option exists, more will opt for this route to parenthood.

How do others on this board feel?

ETA:   Hmm. . Maybe I am the only one who views embryo adoption as being similar to DIA?  I just went over to the 3rd party board and there are 2 (I think) donor embryo posts over there.  I personally still think that reading and understanding DIA issues helps in donor embryo situations too.

TTC #1 for over 5 years - too many to count IF treatments (tried everything and anything), repeat miscarriages. Finally, Sticky Success!! B/G Twins arrived 2011. VOTE on my Name List Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • Clearly I don't know for sure, but I would guess orange's use of the term "better" = "you'll get more/better responses there." From the posts here about the subject, there were usually few responses or "I'm sending you a PM." If this will give a greater sense of community and a more active discussion, I'm all for it. It doesn't stop anyone from XPing here

Dr. Loretta understood me correctly. I wasn't saying these posters weren't welcome here, but they are a very small group and don't always get many responses on this board. Now that there is a board that more specifically addresses some of their situation, they may be able to get more help. But, certainly we would be the place for home study questions.

  • I will probably continue posting here for support throughout our embryo adoption (though it won't be for several months), but I'm glad to hear of this new board.

    Thanks!
