Infertility

~starspangledgirl1~

I saw your DH had double vericocele surgery.  Mine had his this past August (also double), and last Friday was his first SA post-surgery.  Motility and Morph are still low, but each have a tiny bit of improvement. I think his count is still fairly low too, but that wasn't written on the report.

How long has it been since his surgery?

Re: ~starspangledgirl1~

  • hi, so sorry about your hubbys variciocle, its really tough on the guys too knowing their fertility is compromised as well! in our situation, his dr told us not to expect much improvement for at *least* 6 months (i know that seems an eternity to wait while you are anxiously TTC) and he will reach his optimal improvement in a year or so. my hubbys surgery was 2 years ago, we saw a bit of improvement in motility and morphology after 6 mos, (his count was always good) but the real improvement came after a year. he went from 28% motility to 51%, and morphology 1% to 3%. in our situation, we are older, so i kind of wish we just went to IVF instead of waiting for him to get better. with IVF it doesnt matter what the sperm are doing, they can inject the egg and the sperm doesnt have to do a thing LOL. if you have time to wait, wait, but if you cant....you may want to consider IUI/IVF just b/c it does take some time to see improvement. in the meantime, keep trying naturally--it only takes one good one! i was older 37-39 when we were TTC naturally, so maybe my eggs were tougher to crack ;-) GL!!

  • Thanks for the reply!

RE said we should go ahead and try IUIs, and we're currently cycling for IUI #2.  His 6 month mark is the end of February, so maybe in March we'll see better #s.
