Which areas of Greater Boston would you recommend for 31 yr old professionals expecting a first baby? I've heard Brookline, Chestnut Hill, parts of Newton, and Wellesley. Thanks!
It depends on which area you like. Lots of the areas are family and baby friendly. Are you already in the city or just arriving? Every neighborhood has its plusses and minuses.

Thanks everyone. Glad to hear these could be good neighborhoods. I was a little worried that because they're pricier areas, we might be a lot younger than most other people there. If you have any extra suggestions, that would be great too. House hunting trip coming up this weekend Thanks all!
Lexington and Winchester are very nice. We have friends that love living there. We live in Andover and love it but like a previous post said its outside of Boston a bit.

How about the North Shore? We are in Middleton and it is a great small town with tons of new/young families taking over! My husband works in the city and the commute is not bad at all!

Hi everyone. Thanks again for your help. We just bought a place in Wellesley and are really excited about it. We'll move from NY in late June (baby due in early May) - let me know if anyone else is in the area and might want to meet up.
We live in Wellesley and there are a ton of young families in our neighborhood (we are in a "modest" part of the town), but it varies throughout the town as to the age of the parents and kids. The town is great, though!
Also looking to move to a family-friendly neighborhood in the area. We're a young professional couple (25 and 31) expecting our first baby. Someone mentioned 'the pluses and minuses of every neighborhood'- could you elaborate on what those might be?
We're interested in Brookline/Newton and possibly Arlington, Lexington and Belmont.

Absolutely true.

I would check out; Arlington, Stoneham, Reading, Winchester, Melrose.
I live in Andover which is awesome but about 25 miles from the city, not sure if that's too far for you.
Funny! Small world!
