Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Sleep Easy Success Stories, please?

Hi!

I just finished reading the Sleep Easy book - We're going to start tonight.

I am really dreading it, I'm already trying to fight the tears myself! I'm a wimp, I know. But I'm fearing the worst, and I know I should be more positive.. but it's so difficult. :(

I know it's been posted many, many times before - but I need some good success stories! Or at least some improvement stories. :)

I'm hoping I have enough in me to stick with it. We all need sleep!!

Re: Sleep Easy Success Stories, please?

  • We used this method for DD when she was 4.5 months old.  The first night was hard but once you get past that first night then you are golden.

DD cried for 54 minutes basically straight the first night.  She never cried to the point of throwing up or anything like that, but she was crying loud and hard.  Then she fell asleep and slept through the night.  The second night was better, the crying only lasted for around 35-40 minutes.  By the third night we were down to 20 minutes and the 4th night no crying at all.  Since we did the sleep training it is very rare that she even fusses when going to sleep at night.  We may have an "off" day here and there, but the most she will cry is 15 minutes max.  It was the best thing we could have done.

    Good Luck and stay strong!

It's nice reading success stories from experienced sleep trainers :)

Did you have luck with naps as well? Did you train simultaneously with night training? I know the book suggests you train for both at the same time, and I'm hoping it goes well.. but have a feeling it might be a disaster..
  • I wait my LO was little over six months. I was off work and had the time and energy to devote to her. She did remarkable on it.  First night it took about 30 mins. I noticed when we checked in she got more upset so we spaced them out before. She slept 11 hours plus.  Now 2 weeks later still sleeps decent. I think she is getting another tooth in because she been waking up crying last two nights. But she does get herself back to sleep.   She still takes about 5 to 10 mins to fall asleep. But she does it on her own. During that time every night my anxiety is up. I wish I wasn't like it but o used to rocking her to sleep.

I tried doing naps to but it's so much worse and I did not want to enjoy my time off with her that way. She still slept night fine.

     Good luck!!!

Thanks!! Glad your daughter is doing so well! Minus the teething.. but it's always something, isn't it?

I'm trying to stay positive about trying it out tonight. Hoping my son does as well as your daughter did!

  • Biggest thing is make sure they are not over tired when putting them down saves a lot of tears. I try to make sure her last nap ends around 4:30-5 the latest.  It's hard to do sometimes.

  • I unfortunately did not have the luxury of having enough time to try to train naps as well.  I tried it over a weekend and it was pure torture and didn't seem to work at all.  To this day she still needs to be rocked into a complete sleep for naps, yet goes to sleep on her own with no issues at bedtime :-)
