Did anybody else suffer from complications from their c section?
If so, has it made you more nervous for next time?
Did you suffer complications with one c section and not another?
Tell me your story. I suffered a bowel obstruction due to surgery and had a traumatic hospital stay because of it. Seperated from DS for a week after his birth. I am very nervous about having a second c section, but I know it is very likely how any subsequent pregnancies will end.
Re: Surgery complications
Oh no! Being separated would be awful.
I laboured for 30 hours and my eppi kept wearing off after less then an hour and due to my scoliosis baby was leaning hard to the left and couldn't descend into my pelvis. During the CS the meds wore off and I started to feel the entire surgery. They upped the meds, it didn't work and I was knocked out. My incision was infected a week after the surgery but I think that was due to a fever I developed during labor.
I am not worried at all for the next time. I am confident that with the surgical report etc, prepping for the next section, the OB will make sure it wont happen again!
I had my bladder cut during the csection this time after a failed VBAC. I had a 5 hour surgery to repair the bladder and finish the csection. I had a catheter for 3 weeks which was the worst part.
Recovery has been slow but not that bad. However if we ever decide to have a 3rd I will be nervous. I definitely don't want any unforeseen complications. However I hope with a planned csection over a VBAC a lot of the complications can be avoided. Talk to your OB though. It is important for them to know.
Yes, for me I have a problem with anesthsia and I had to be put to sleep both times right after I met my daughters, then I had major breathing problems after surgery. Turned out I have a neuromuscular disorder.
Since mine caused major pain in my head during the surgery I did worry the second time around that it was going happen again....and it did but guess what I did fine.
Although my daughters weren't separated from me I was very sick so it wasn't easy and I had terrible nursing care the first time around.
For me I changed dr's and hospitals for my second pregnancy and although I had similar complications I was taken care of much, much better which made for a much better experience. It really truly made all of the difference and I felt comfortable in the fact that my Dr. would be there for me and he was.
My Mom was separated from me for a week because she had a uterine rupture and almost died and had a bad infection. She went on to have two more children and had no complications at all
K got stuck during my attempt at a vaginal delivery and I had an e-cs. In the process of pushing from the bottom and trying to get him extracted from the top, the incision tore through my cervix. The resulting trauma inflicted upon my body was enough to cause me not to clot and require 4L of blood (though my charts indicate another 2L that it's not clear when they were given) to start clotting again. I last remember being in the OR waiting on the anesthesiologist to put me under GA (I was having trouble breathing and couldn't get calmed down) around 10:30am on Saturday and I woke up intubated on Sunday afternoon around 3pm. I met my son then, but was so weak I could only hold him for a couple of minutes. Bonding was slow and I was in the ICU for three days.
I saw a hematologist to confirm I do not have a clotting disorder. I do not trust my OB because of the absolute omission as to the level of trauma during the cs when I asked what happened, though the OB on call that delivered my baby is no longer with the practice. I haven't had a panic attack in two months and I'm having fewer nightmares, but all in all, having a 3rd child scares me. If it was the trauma that caused the bleeding, it would be unlikely I would have anything of the same caliber because I would have a repeat cs, but our family may be just fine the size it is now.
