Kids cups for lunch box

Any recommendations for one that does not leak? Our Thermos Funtainer straws are getting moldy and I want a replacement. DS got a stainless sports bottle from Old Navy for his birthday and it leaks too easy for a kid, he thinks he pushed it all the way down and obviously did not. I always hear about Kleen Kanteen but they do not get great reviews on Amazon.

  • We use a Thermos pop top for water, and I send a Fruitable juice box or the equivalent type of Capri Sun for lunch.

  • We've got a camelback kids one for ds2 who's 6. It's ok. The one we really like is a no name from walmart. I got it in the baby section. It's a flip top, no straw and holds about 12 oz. It does not leak.

  • We use the Thermos funtainer. To prevent mold in the straws I take the insert out and the straw off and use the small brush that came with my Dr.Browns baby bottles (you can search Dr. Brown's Replacement Cleaning Brushes). I scrub them out with soap and water, then I let them air dry separately. You can also rinse with vinegar then let air dry to help prevent any bacteria growth.

  • Kleen Kanteen is awesome in general BUT the spout tops leak.  If your kiddo can unscrew the regular tops to drink, then perfect.  If no, then I suggest just keep researching reviews on Amazon.  Def go with steel/non BPA.  There were a few on there but I wasn't comfy spending $20+ on a bottle for my daughter to take to school.  Good luck!
  • I swear by Nalgene products. I don't have any of the smaller bottles but I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
