Need help deciding on a name. Middle name set after my husband's late grandfather.

Gun to my head - Parker.

Ryker is one of my least favorite names. I don't get the appeal at all. All I think of is the prison.

Parker is okay. NMS, but fine.

Also, this is the geek in me talking, but if I saw Ryker and Gene together I would probably assume you were Star Trek fans, particularly TNG fans.

If I am being 100% honest, I would have to say that I really hate Ryker. Usually if a name is not my particular style I am still able to look at it objectively and say something like -- that's a nice name, just not for me.

OP, Ryker is terrible.

Parker is fine. I like that you are using a family name in the MN spot. Also, are you open to suggestions?

I don't like that Parker is such a unisex name now so I'm going to be the opposing voice and say Ryker. I do have a friend with an adorable son named Ryker though so I may be biased (they also get the Rikers Island comment a lot - to which they reply with something like - "That's where we met!")

I don't think of Parker as a unisex name at all; even though some parents might choose to use it for a girl, it's 100% boy to me. I MUCH prefer it over Ryker, which I really dislike.

I've definitely gotta say Parker.

Honestly, I've never heard Ryker as a name before, but my first thought was that you misspelled Ryder. And now that I keep saying Ryker over and over I keep wanting to say Rake-Her.

Then again, people love the name Rhys, but I constantly want to pronounce it RY's, like, nick name to Ryan. I don't get how you get Reese out of Rhys, but again, just my thinking.

Are all the people who are using the name Ryker Danish? I had no idea it was Danish, and honestly I bet 90% of the people who use it don't either.

Anyway, I really prefer Parker, and Parker is NMS. I dislike Ryker that much.

To be quite honest, I can't stand either. But Parker is much better than Ryker. Ryker is truly awful.
