east coast/caribbean resorts w/ activities for non-PTed kids?

ok well we are now expanding our vacay search to non-direct flights (I posted a couple days ago looking for some ideas in FL w/ direct flights from where we are) b/c we're not getting too excited about the resort options in FL, we love the Caribbean and figure if we can't get kid activity options and/or locations we're excited about in FL (b/c they start at age 4 or require PTing), we'll suck it up & try the connection to go somewhere we'd be excited about (3 1/2 yr old twins have never flown & DS freaks out in enclosed spaces w/ strangers but we'll see how it goes...).

SO- I don't think DS will be fully PTed by the trip, for poop anyway...we're finally making headway on pee but nothing on poop & we want to go in April.

Are there resorts in the Caribbean that have kid activities for non-PTed kids? Preferably not the really far away islands b/c of the flying concerns.

No Disney, Dominican Republic or Cancun.

Thanks!

  • I've never been, but what about the Beaches Sesame Street resorts? It looks like the toddler programs are OK with diapers if necessary https://www.beaches.com/activities/kids-camp.cfm

  • I didn't see your other post so I am nor sure if it was suggested but have you looked at Sanibel and Captiva island in Florida? My family always stays at the South Seas Island Resort and we love it. It is a very family friendly place with great beaches. They have the best sea shelling in the US which is always fun for kids. They also have a pool with slides, family friendly restaurants, an ice cream parlor. You can also rent bikes. The islands also have a lot of family friendly stuff and great restaurants.

  • We're going to Cuba in February with our twenty-two month old because there were so many AI resorts with "Baby Clubs".  Not sure if you're American or not, but if so, there's always the option to fly out of Canada.

  • Not sure why you said no Cancun, have you looked into Riviera Maya all inclusive?  If you are not familiar with with Rivera Maya, it's a strip about 30-60 minutes from Cancun with all 2-3 story resorts.  We just came back from Sandos Playacar and had a wonderful time.  My 2 year old DD loved it, great beach and pool, very relaxed and family friendly atmosphere.   We didn't have her in diapers at the beach, just the pool and public places.
