Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Feeding behaviour changes

When I started my LO on solids end of october he took right away! He loved to eat, would eat tons, was a great eater.  In December he was teething like crazy and had all four of his top teeth come in, so the quantities in which he ate we're reduced. Now, this last month, he's refusing to be spoon fed, he'll only eat if he puts the food in his mouth or puts the spoon in himself.  Now he's not eating nearly as much and if at all. Has anyone else's LO done this? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance

Re: Feeding behaviour changes

  • my LO has totally done this... he went to boycotting bottles until i started him with cereal and purees... two weeks ago, he started to want nothing much to do with purees so i have moved on to solids... basically he eats anything we eat. or if my DH and i have an easy dinner night, i have been preparing meals for him ahead of time... they usually include a chicken, veggie and fruit. he loves it.

he definitely doesn't eat as much as i think he did with the purees but he still sleeps through the night and has not woken up hungry yet. i am not too concerned since we are at the beginning... i'm sure when he really starts feeding himself, plates will be cleared. :)

  • Mine does this at time. I'm not worried about it because she gets most of her nutrition from her formula anyways.

He's just learning and discovering and testing out his independence. Let him enjoy. :)
