I went to the health department today to check LO's ears and make sure his ear infection was gone. When we were done the nurse, who is my age and has a LO about 2 years old, tried to give LO a sucker. I am sure I gave her the strangest look, because she asked me, "oh you don't let him have candy?" He hardly eats solids, why would I give hime candy. Just curious if anyone lets LO have candy?
Re: Have you giving your kid candy?
No. On Christmas Eve, DH's grandmother had a stocking for every child which had a cookie and candy in it. She told me she didn't have a stocking for DS, but handed me a cookie tin for him saying, "I know he isn't eating candy yet, so here's his cookie."
I said thank you and took it, but couldn't believe she thought I was going to give him a cookie at 8 months old.
I gave DS a lick of icing from a friends bday cake and while we were in Florida I gave him a task of raspberry sorbet that I rubbed on his gums since he was teething bad (all four top teeth are coming in at the same time...my poor baby!). I did it more to see what he would do than to actually give him a treat, but not anything that he would have to bite or chew...no, no, no.
He hated the icing but was ok with the sorbet.
thats what I thought. He also got a huge sucker in his stocking at the ILs at Christmas. My BIL kept wanting to open it and give it to him. If i had been drinking i am sure i would have acted upon my thoughts to beat BIL with the sucker. I was just making sure I wasn't being a totally strict mommy. I want to control what goes in his mouth as long as I can.
No.
FIL tried to give her wine because "it's good for her gums". I nearly whalloped him. Not that it would make it any better, by any means, but she isn't even teething...
DD has had a few bites of cookie before, but not anything more than that. I think shes still too young for sweets. I didnt even want her to have those few bites but DH gave it to her before i noticed
Bahaha! I thought I was the only one who says that anymore. Are you southern?
