Hello ladies;
I've been looking into my insurance coverage for pregnancy and L&D. I was wondering what those of you that have already had NBs in a hospital spent (before insurance coverage)? I know costs will be cheaper without an epi, but I wasn't sure how much. We're trying to make sure we have enough savings.
Thanks!
ETA: I do know my co-insurance is 80% after meeting my $2k deductible so I am really just trying to get a feel. I understand every area is going to be different.

Absolutely. Inquire within at the hospital you plan to deliver.
$16,500. I paid a 250 copay.
My sister was charged 7k for the epi her first time in 2007. She also only paid a copay like I did.

About the same cost for me, insurance covered everything.
Before insurance:
OB fee for all pg and L&D--$4676
Hospital--$9760 (includes all the post-delivery vitamins/meds below)
Pathology (OB sent in my placenta...not sure if this is standard)--$166
Total--$14,602
Charges for EACH vitamin/pain med for after delivery (I am bringing my own next time):
PNV--$6
Gas pill--$6
Stool softner--$6
Vicodin--$8
Tylenol--$6
IB--$6
We paid almost $3k out of pocket, which is significantly more than a friend of mine who got an epi paid...so...
Maybe ask friends/coworkers who have the same insurance that you do what they paid.
