Okay, I drink like 100 oz of water per day, and maybe have a diet coke or something with lunch, but other than that -- I don't really drink anything other than water.
Yesterday I had a day where I was mostly seated at my desk (no running around town for meetings). I got home around 5:30 (about an hour commute home), and made dinner, which was all prepped so really i just had to stick it in the oven.
Point being, i wasn't on my feet much and I hadn't eaten anything weird all day.
When I went to change into my pjs -- I took of my yoga pants and slipper socks and was HORRIFIED to see CANKLES!!!! I mean, major sock lines from my SLIPPER socks. I am a larger woman but I have always had tiny little ankles and wrists, and that was just so gross I can hardly stand it.
About 90% better this morning, but still looking a little puffy.
Anybody else experiencing this / have any tips???
Re: Wow, major swelling
I had issues with swelling even before I got pregnant. I found if I use a foot stool it helps, also days that I wear flats and or sandals are worse.. if I wear tighter socks with shoes or boots, they don't swell at all.
May be time for compressions socks?
It's uncomfortable!!
Boo.
At least it is (knock on wood) just in my feet / ankles right now. My rings are still too loose and I think my face looks normal. :-)
Boo! That sucks. Maybe look into your sodium consumption? A lot of "healthy" foods actually contain a lot of sodium-- assuming you blood pressure is normal, I think we are supposed to limit our sodium intake to 1,500-2,000 mg a day, which is actually pretty low/easy to exceed.
We always buy "no sodium added" products wherever possible to make sure we don't overdo the salt intake.

I had MAJOR swelling / cankles when pregnant with my son. I was pregnant all summer too. It was so gross, strangers (one was a nurse) would stop me while shopping, etc. and tell me to go to the hospital!
Get your BP checked, make sure your feet are propped up, and remember to keep the blood moving (get up and move around). Swimming also helps. The only bad thing about the swelling is it could be a sign of preclampsia (sp).
Sodium, sugar and not moving play a part.
I had this happen after a 3 hour car ride. Asked my doc about it at my next appt because it was so unexpected. She said the position of sitting will cause the swelling. She suggested to pump my calfs occasionally when sitting to help keep the blood moving. Also, to stand up and walk around for 5 min every 30min-1 hour. If those things didn't keep the swelling down, then to prop my feet up until it went down.
Hopefully it won't get too bad next time. Just keep that blood pumping

Thanks ladies, I just put a little stool under my desk and put my feet up, so hopefully that will help!
It's just so gross looking.
