Does TRU gift receipt = store credit?

I need to take something back and the giver gave me the gift receipt.  It's for quite a bit of $$ and I hate having a big store credit when we don't "need" anything from TRU right now.

    Without the original receipt you get store credit, unfortunately.

    I think if the purchaser paid in cash, you should get cash.  Otherwise, store credit.
