Infertility

I should just quit now

Ok so first problem is there was a misunderstanding between dr and nurse to call in the Viagra compound. Even though I heard him tell her to call it in. So it wasn't called in and has to be ordered and won't be here till tomorrow evening. I'm supposed to start it today. So they are having me just do the oral, vaginal, patch estrogen for 2 days till I get the Viagra. This is not ideal since this combination never works for me, hopefully two days doesn't matter. Second problem, my insurance won't cover it because of my age. I take it twice a day for 4 weeks, maybe longer and it's 10 each. Do the math, that freaking blows. They have also changed their consents from 5 pages to 23 pages of, in the event of you abd DH getting a divorce, you dying, this clinic no longer participating in ivf, if you get pregnant what do you want to do with your embryos. Then I was under the impression that I had 2 good and one not so good frozen embies. Nope, wrong again. One good, one fair, and one other. Other is below poor so craptastic.
I have put a call in to speak with my dr and not his nurses. If this is going to mess up this cycle by not starting off right then I would rather stop now instead of 2 weeks in of wasted meds and extra heartache.
It's not supposed to be this hard. I feel like I have to fight every step of the way. It makes me want to just quit. It makes me hate people who have sex and get pregnant. I just want something is this horrid, God forsaken process to go half ass freaking right!!

Re: I should just quit now

  • Ahhhh the never ending bumps to getting a bump...it's total bullsh!t. So sorry you are having a rough time. Hope things get better and just remember to keep your eye on the prize. As Mr Lance Armstrong so wisely said "Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever." FX for you that the pain of this process ends soon. Hugs!!

  • I am so sorry that you are going through all this crap.  What is wrong with the drs office?  Why can't they just call in your rx to CVS or something?  Just for the one night.  You do not deserve all this. I know what you mean about people that just have sex and get pregnant.  Jerks.  I can't even comprehend that anymore.  You have already been through so much and you really deserve a happy ending.

  • Oh Crystal, I'm so sorry you keep running into roadblock after roadblock and can't seem to catch a break, I can't even imagine how frustrated you are right now. I have absolutely everything crossed for you that this cycle works out. Sending you really big (((hugs)))

  • Crystal, I am so sorry!!!  I would think that starting viagra two days later wouldn't be a big issue.  It likely increases blood flow to that area and maybe most critical towards the middle/end of the cycle but I'm not an RE.  I know you are disappointed about the embies but the thing I try to remember is that there is very strict criteria they all have to make in order to be frozen and that it only takes one.  IF sucks.   Hopefully, you can get a hold of the office so that you can get this cleared up and give you piece of mind. Is there anyway they can code it differently so that the viagra gets covered?  Maybe dysfunctional uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, or female sexual arousal dysfunction?

    You are one strong lady and will get through this!  {{HUGS}}

  • They cant call it in because it has to be compounded. Its estrodial and viagra made in to a vaginal suppository. It has to be done a certain way and apparently this is the only pharmacy in the whole state of fing Texas that compounds it just the way my RE wants it. The pharmacy has to order the drugs which wont be here till tomorrow, then they have to sit for a couple hours before he can start to compound them. But there are people ahead of me so the pharmacists said "I can bump people to get you done sooner but then they have to wait longer". Great, so now the pharmacists is giving me a guilt trip about putting me ahead of other people. So if Im lucky it will be ready late tomorrow evening and its over 1 1/2 hours drive one way in horrible traffic at that time of day. All of this brings us back to the root of the problem. My RE told the nurse, I was standing there, the pharmacy needs a couple days notice to get this ready so go ahead and call it over now. Which she did not do. You would also think that since they knew I was coming in today that maybe they would have called yesterday to make sure it was ready. But thats asking a lot of people. My nerves are shot to ***....

    I called the insurance company and they told me to have the dr call and file a medical neccesity authorization form. We will fin dout in 24-72 hours if they will cover it. Oh and I learned to day that the lab does assisted hatching on all embies. So it was done to mine at ER on my fresh IVF. I dont even know what to do at this point with all of this med screw up. Ive cried and vomited from nerves so I guess now I'll just wait and see how this pans out.

I thought I heard him say last week that we would stop these at the transfer and move to oral but once again his dumbass nurse cant read the chart so she was ordering me 64 of them, 4 weeks worth. Well per him I only need 20 days worth and maybe 3 extra just in case. These bad boys are $10 each. So we are talking a difference from $640 to $230. I want to shove my foot so far up that nurses ass....

    Great news!!  One of the hardest parts for me has been dealing with the IVF coordinator.  I swear she is such a b*tch.  Glad the RE called you himself and cleared it up.  I think that our situations with the anovulatory problems is more rare and the nurses aren't used to the different protocols.
