Moby vs. K'tan

Hi, I am a lurker coming out to ask a question--sorry if this has already been asked before! DD2 is 6 weeks old and I find a need to wear her around the house a lot while dealing with DD1 who is 2. I loved my moby with DD1 but it is just getting too cumbersome. I need a carrier I can easily get DD2 in and out of because I'm wearing her so often and for both short and long periods of time. I have a ring sling but it just doesn't work well for me around the house and isn't super comfortable. I want something as supportive and snuggly as the moby but without all the hassle. Would a k'tan work well? If you have one, do you find it supportive enough? My daughter is already over 11 lbs. Is it really faster/easier than wrapping? Any other suggestions for a carrier that might work? I also have an ergo but I don't have an infant insert and I would prefer something more comfy for around the house. I guess my main question is, if you were me do you think buying a k'tan would be worth it if you already have a moby? I'm willing to spend some more for the convenience but I'm unsure if the k'tan will solve my problem.

Re: Moby vs. K'tan

  • See if you can go to a store that carries it and try it out with your LO! I got to try one on with a baby doll (no baby yet lol) and it really made a huge difference for me in my decision, seeing the options and how to put them on, how it felt with that weight in there, etc. FWIW, I did go with the k'tan.

  • What about a mei tai? It will probably last you longer and there are so many cute options.
  • I have used both a Moby and a K'tan with my son. "Something as supportive and snuggly as the moby but without all the hassle" is EXACTLY how I would describe the K'tan. You lose a little bit of flexibility, in that there are not as many carrying options with the K'tan, but it is very easy to get the baby in and out of, much faster than wrapping IMO. I would highly recommend it.
