Is anyone doing any event runs this year?
I usually do the Portland, OR Shamrock Run but it is SO PACKED! They sell out every year on their limit of 35,000 entries. I opted out last year and will be skipping this year. But I did sign up for one called the Electric Run...where you are running under black lights with glow sticks and glowing tunnels and stuff. Right now on Groupon they have one called Rugged Maniac that is discounted. It's a 5k with tons of obstacles like giant slides, mud pits, you jump over fire, etc....I am thinking I may sign up for the one as well.
Re: Event Runs
Run/race...same thing. Everyone is running, some are competitive and racing everyone else for good time
I've got:
The Electric Run
Race for Autism
Hot Chocolate Race
Maybe the Carlsbad 5000
The Neon Run
Maybe Safari Park Half Marathon
Color Me Rad/Color Run (not sure which yet)
Jeremy Henwood 5k
Susan Koman 5k
Jingle Bell Run
And the Rock and Roll series was supposed to roll out a 10miler here last year and it didn't go through, so I'm hoping that happens this year.
holy running batman....
I really want to do the Women's Half. It's the first year here, but the timing doesn't work out with my schedule!
I've done a bunch of halfs - only one Rock N Roll (when I was pregnant with LBB!). I was actually a little disappointed in the Rock N Roll. My coworker had warned me about it - how you only hear the bands for 30sec before you pass. I thought there would be more energy/crowd support. For most of the race, we were running down random streets which were empty because it was early on a Sunday morning. No people cheering, no nothing. But maybe it was just the location - I did the Phoenix one. I know San Diego is one of the big ones, so maybe eventually I'll give that one a shot.
So far my favorite half was the Tinkerbell at Disney I did last January. I didn't even hit the 11-mile wall I usually do! It's this weekend, and I'm a little sad I'm not running it again, but I didn't have the time to train for it this winter.
Let's make it a date - I'm DYING to do the Wine and Dine. I have a friend that just ran it last year (I think it was her second half). I kind of love that it's a late night race!
Although I may postpone it for a bit longer. I want to wait for a big Disney World trip for when LBB is old enough to remember it, since we have Disneyland in our backyard. Growing up we lived in Tallahassee for a while, so I'm a Disney World baby.
