G is taking really long naps this week. Nice for me, but his naps are so long I'm not able to get him lunch. It's crazy. Maybe a growth spurt?
ETA: oh, also, In the last 3 weeks or so G's had HFM and then croup. This is his first healthy week in a month. Maybe he's catching up?
Re: Super duper long naps
A is doing this, and they are occurring from about 11:30 to 2, or sometimes longer. So I give him half his lunch right before, usually just a piece of cheese or a snack bar and then feed him more when he gets up. Then his dinner has been a little later, at about 6:30.
Oh crap, it's 6:30 now. I swear, I could starve this kid and he would never say a word. He's happily playing next to me, not even talking about food.
::jaw drop::
I don't think Ava has ever taken a single nap like that. Ever.
G's the same. I don't think he's maybe ever asked me for food. Ergh! He's been sleeping from lik 12:30/1:00 til 4:00 or 4:30.n it's crazy! So, I've been giving him breakfast and then his morning snack and then a snack when he wakes up. I'm assuming this can't continue!
C also never tells me when she's hungry and never really has she's a peanut but I don't worry because she hits all her developmental milestones and her bloodtest never showed any deficiencies.
We do lunch at 11:30/12 and put him down right after so if he sleeps really long then his tummy is full. (I guess it does sometimes cause him to poop though which of course wakes him up, so I guess you can't win.) Like PPs said though, maybe just give him a healthy snack before the nap if you think he'll go long? Glad he's feeling better! Probably just catching up or growth spurt.
Dude. I call anything over 1.5 hours a long nap. My kid just isn't a long napper! I'm betting it's some combination of growth spurt and catching up for being sick.
That said, can you feed him lunch before he naps?
Haha, yeah but we deserve it because our kids don't eat haha!
JK...but doesn't it seem like your kid is either a good sleeper or good eater but never both?
DS is a great 3 hour napper one day, and the next day...no nap. MIL is watching him this week and said he sat in his crib for 2 hours today blabbing away but did not nap at all. There really is no rhyme or reason to his napping.
I always feed him lunch at 12:30 and then he's supposed to nap sometime after that.
THIS! And also, mine is always asking for food. Maybe if he slept more and wasn't constantly moving he wouldn't be so hungry!
I am at work all day so I don't get to enjoy the peace and quiet of nap time. I have 150 junior high kids running around nagging me. Haha. J hasn't been sleeping well at all since about 22 months. If he takes more than a 2 hour nap he is up for hours in the middle of the night. It's tough to be awake with a toddler from 1-4:30am when I have to get up at 5am for work.
