Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What kind of things is your LO doing?

Just curious to see where everyone's LO is at in development.

My daughter can roll over both ways.

While on her stomach she can turn herself in a circle to get what she wants.

No crawling. Sometimes she can push herself backwards but she isn't quite able to get up on her knees.

I've noticed that she can sort of use her pincer grasp. She's getting better at it.

She sits without support but occasionally falls when she gets really excited.

Drags objects towards herself.

Does not combine syllables yet. So no "Dada" and "mama" babbling.

Re: What kind of things is your LO doing?

  • K pretty much doing the same things..

    rolling both ways

    turns 360 on his tummy

army crawling (just started in the last week) he gets on his knees but won't support himself with his arms so he face plants.

just started using his pincher to pick up food, but usually gets frustrated and palms everything

sits unsupported and knows how to go to a laying position

    just started clapping

combines loads of weird syllables lately but his favorite at the moment is "mama"

pulls up on things to stand

  • My DS started doing everything really early. He's been rolling over (both ways) since 6 weeks. He can go from belly/back to sitting up. He's been crawling since 6 1/2 months. And the past week he's been pulling himself up to standing and side shuffling. Everyone keeps telling me he'll probably be walking by 9 months. I've never done much to make him do everything so soon and it makes me kind of sad that he's really not a baby anymore.

  • Mr. Wiggles is doing much of the same.

    Rolls both ways

spins around on his tummy for direction

Serious army crawling...man that kid is fast! I'm in trouble when he figures out how to actually crawl!!!

Up on hands and knees rocking back and forth, will make a few hand knee movements but then face plants

has really good control of his what we call "picker fingers" to pick up food.

    sits totally unsupported

sometimes can go from belly to sitting position

has begun to pull up to stand

Has started to show some problem solving skills which is pretty cool

  • Little man is very similar too...he's 6 1/2 months...

    He's rolling over both ways.

He can sit unassisted and play with toys around him (can't get himself into the sitting position, and falls not-so-gracefully when he's tired).

Using his legs to scoot around. It's hilarious watching him - on his tummy he'll get on his knees and squirm, but his chest/arms are down. OR he'll push up with his arms but his knees are down. He's trying so hard to figure out crawling! :o)

Throws toys behind his head and turns to retrieve them.

Mainly uses palms to rake toys to him, but we haven't given him anything tiny...need to get on that soon!! ;o)

But my biggest thrill the past 2 weeks has been that he says "ma ma ma ma" consistently!!!! :o) It's his first babbling!!!! I know that he's not saying "mama" directed at me, but I'll take what I can get! ;o)

Oh yeah, and he loves to eat his big toes. :o

  • DS is 8 months told.

    He babbles alot

    claps

    crawls

sits well, goes from crawl to sit, sit to crawl

    pulls up

    cruises a bit

    he waved ones

    feeds himself his finger food

  • DS just turned 6 months.  He can sit unassisted.  He used to know how to roll from tummy to back, but has now stopped.  I still haven't seen him roll back to tummy yet and I don't think I ever will.  The kid HATES being on his tummy.  He can grab all sorts of toys and flaps his hands and raises them if he wants to be picked up.  He makes sounds, but I wouldn't call it babbling yet.  Oh yeah, he also loves eating his toes.

My daughter didn't start rolling until she was 6 1/2 months and also hated her tummy. Now it's her preferred way to be since she can get around a little more. Once she started rolling back to belly, she tolerated her belly a little more.

  • DS is 7.5 months old.

He can roll both ways, crawl, and sit unsupported.

He pulls himself up and cruises.

He's taken his first step, and subsequent steps since, but still isn't "walking."

He uses his pincer grasp, but mostly palms.

He likes the "vaaavaa" sound and "baba" (they're very similar so don't quote me on the use of "v"), and enjoys saying "pop" and "bop."

He waves Bye-Bye, but not hello.

    No clapping yet.
