I need some insight on an issue I'm having. I'll give you some history, my son is seven months old now. Up until about 34 months he was sleeping in our room in pack n play. He would nurse to sleep, of put him in his crib and he would sleep 45 hour stretches. We got to the point where he was still awake after nursing and I could put him in his crib and he would be sleep within 15 minutes no fussing or crying. Well about a month ago seemed everything changed. He needed to be rocked to sleep again and was waking up more frequently. I started giving him a little rice cereal bf bed and that seemed to keep him down for his normal 45 hour stretch again but then he started to wake up at night wailing and only eat a small amount. I tried letting him CIO, he would cry for five minutes then go back to sleep. He actually slept 8 hours plus for about three days! Then he went right back to normal, waking up every 45 hours and needing to be rocked to sleep. But he ADDED wailing every time I left him in his room. I'm not sure I cant handle him crying it out for too long and it's no longer taking 5 minutes now...my husband works third shift so it's all me at night. So lately he just ends up in his pack n play in our room or in bed with me. Please help : hope I've explained it well enough! Thanks

Re: Sudden change: 7 month old won't sleep in room
[[We had a similar problem...he would go to sleep with no problems and sleep all night, and then at 6 months he started fighting bedtime. We let him fuss and did the incremental checking-in. Put him down, say night-night, and leave the room. Let him fuss 5 minutes, went back in, put pacifier back in him mouth, said night-night, and leave the room. Then let him fuss 10 minutes and went back in every 10 minutes unless he showed signs of falling asleep.
It was really hard for me. I've helped with this method when I used to babysit and it was no problem. But he cranks up that cry and it hurts my heart! But it only took 3 nights and the 4th night he went down with no fussing at all and has slept TTN ever since. Plus, I know that he has a full tummy and clean diaper, so the fussing is from being sleepy.]]
One thing I tried was putting a "Sleep Sheep" we got for his shower in his crib (attached it to the top corner out of harms way). It was something new to him, and it really seemed to calm him down.
Maybe you could try giving yours a lovey he hasn't snuggled with, or a lovey that you have snuggled with so it smells like you? To help comfort and distract him?
Good luck, girl! I know it's tough. Sounds like you are a great mama to your sweet one!!

Thanks so much for this advice and the compliment. You must know I'm so not feeling like a great Mom! I'll try this method for the next few days! When does your little one take naps during the day??
He naps anywhere between 9 and 10 for 30 mins to an hour and then again around 2 for 30 mins to 2 hours. THAT'S what we're working on...getting into a good nap routine! ;o) He sleeps 8:30-6:30 at night.
One more thing I just thought of...we also started doing a routine at nap time just like for bedtime. He eats and then we go up to his room and read 2 stories and say some prayers and rock a few minutes until he's kinda drowsy (bedtime he eats, takes a short bath, 2 stories, prayers, rock). Trying to get him to correlate the routine with bedtime.
It was advice one of my friends gave me that I never even thought of (I thought, DUH!!! as I smacked myself in the forehead...sometimes the simplest things go straight over my mommy brain!) ;o)
